First I read some of the other tips provided by the others in order to make it easier for me. I put a of couple of nails on the hinges (in the holes) to prevent them from springing back into the oven. I took the oven door off carefully and laid it on an area rug. Then I took the door apart. I did it slowly so that I wouldn't forget how to put it back together. It wasn't difficult; it just took a little bit of time. So happy that I was able to do it myself. I'm sure I saved quite a bit a money by not having to call an appliance repair shop to do it for me.

The information provided us through other customers really helped us. My husband is NOT a handyman and does not like to do these type of jobs. However he decided to attempt it. He likes step by step instructions from the company, however following other customers advice worked great. We where real pleased with how quick we received the replacement glass.

I pulled down the wire around the glass cover. . . Released on end of the wire from its holder being careful to not let the glass cover drop. Unscrewed the bulb and replaced with replacement. Easy, easy.

I went to the source of power on the stove and noticed one of the terminals had come loose from the terminal block and had shorted out against the cover of the terminal junction. After prying the loose terminal off cover I ordered new terminal block and received it the 2nd day. I removed the old terminal block and replaced the part in about 10 minutes..Thank you Parts Select for your easy to find diagrams and quick delivery.

Removed the light cover - unscrew the bulb - place the gasket on the base of the light cover - replace the bulb - replace the light cover

All the electrics worked on Amana microwave EXCEPT for the cooking function. Inspected the control board and found the upper switch on the door interlock was burnt. Installed new switch in minutes and everything now works fine. Unfortunately, had to purchase expensive two switch "kit" although only one switch was kaput. PartsSelect mailing was SUPER fast. After unplugging the microwave and removing the screw, I removed the old bulb and put in the new one!! I made sure it was in securely and the difference in the light was awesome! I use this light when I bake bread and let it rise inside the microwave, but DO NOT turn it on. The heat from this light helps the bread to rise properly!!

Since others reported similar problems and it was just the fuse we tried that first. That wasn't the problem so we ordered the Door Interlock Switch Kit. Shipping was very fast! Our microwave had 3 switches. My husband asked how to know which one to switch. I read that one person just did process of elimination. Luckily ours worked on the first change out! So happy to have stumbled across this site and not have to buy a whole new microwave.

The oven light gasket had deteriorated with time and bulb changes. It is a self cleaning oven, which gets very hot during the cleaning cycle. The oven is old (27years) and off the "books" I selected a similar, but slightly smaller gasket (3" OD), and "fit" it to the 3.5" light fixture of the older oven. The gasket material was similar to the original, and I used a usable portion of the original,along with the new gasket to build a gasket for the light lense. Several years prior to this repair, I replaced the oven door springs. Whirlpool, who had taken over what was left of Chambers, had the springs. I did replace one heating element about 15 years ago. The Chamber's salesman told me that the Chambers was the "Cadillac" of all ovens, and it seems to keep running.

1. Open the oven door (about 4 inches) until it hits that first spot that it stays open by itself. 2. Put a pin or small screwdriver in the tiny hole in the hinges - this will keep them from snapping back and also make it easier to put the door back on. 3. Pull up on the door until it comes off the hinges. 4. Lay the door on the table with the inside down - remove the 2 screws from the top of the door and the 3 screws from the bottom - pull cover off and lay to the side. 5. Use nutdriver to remove next panel - they are located under the strip of foam along the sides, 2 on each side. 6. Use nutdriver to remove 6 screws around the pane of broken glass. 7. Replace glass then do steps in reverse to get the door back together. 8. Slide door back onto the hinges, remove the pin or small screwdrivers from hinges. Voila! New glass, no problem!

I read how two others had fixed thiers on this site. Put a nail in each hinge then lifted door strait up off hinges and laid it on kitchen table. removed 9 screws around door. Lift inner door up. remove 3 nut head screws on each side and lift that shield up and out. replaced glass and the put it all back to gether. saved my self a good 200.00 plus dollars. thank you soo much. Remove the door. This takes less than a minute. pull the door up and out. have a friend help you do this. Set it on a table and remove the outside panel screws and separate the outer face cover from the inner. this will expose the many glass window. the inner window has screws hidden under foam strips. these four screws must be removed to gain access to all other window panes. clean and replace as needed, then reassemble. Be carful not to drop the glass panels. also make sure that any insulation is reinstalled. Reinstall the door back into the spring loaded hinges. done

This is a built-in oven, so the biggest problem was figuring out how to remove it from the cabinet. The solution turned out to be removing the cooktop above it and unscrewing two screws that connected the oven to the inside of the cabinet. The other problem was removing BOTH metal backs from the oven. The first one was easy. The second one wasn't. The old socket was recessed behind the second back, making it virtually impossible to access the metal "wings" that hold it in place, so I ended up pulling out the socket assembly from inside the oven with pliers.

We looked at SEVERAL postings on this site. We ARE NOT DYIers. The descriptions on how to do this repair were super helpful. When we read that it only took 30-minutes and was easy, we thought, "Well, they haven't met us!" On the contrary, we got through this without one marital issue. It did take both of us and was kind of like a puzzle. It took us somewhere between 30-60 minutes. We left the door on and worked our way through screw by screw, panel by panel and "voila!" -- we were able to turn on the oven that night without it exploding!!
