Hello John, thank you for the question. When your trimmer spins weakly for a few turns, then stops, the electronic controller is shutting it down on purpose because it's detecting either mechanical resistance or a voltage problem. The most common culprits are a seized bearing in the gear housing and corroded or loose battery terminal contacts. Remove the battery completely and try to turn the cutter head by hand. Spin it through a full rotation, it should turn smoothly without grinding or notching. If you feel resistance, grinding sounds, or it locks up partway through, it could be a seized bearing packed with dirt, or grass and weeds wrapped around the cutter shaft behind the washer. The high resistance from that binding triggers the controller's over-current protection, and it cuts power after a few turns to protect the motor. Clean out any debris, check that the lower gear bearings spin freely, and add a little grease to the gear housing if it looks dry. If the cutter head spins freely by hand, the problem is electrical, most likely a corroded or loose battery contact. A high-resistance connection drops voltage under load, triggering the controller's under-voltage cutoff. Inspect the battery terminal contacts on both the battery pack and inside the tool's terminal block. Look for corrosion, oxidation, or spread-out contact pins that aren't making firm contact. Clean both sides with a contact cleaner or fine sandpaper, and make sure the battery seats fully into the tool. We hope this is what you were looking for!
