Weak rotation of string
For model number CMEST913
Hi Frank, thank you for contacting us. Weak rotation on your trimmer is usually caused by something dragging on the cutting head or a power delivery issue. Start by removing the cover and inspecting the shaft behind the cutting head. Grass, weeds, and hair wrap tightly around it and create enough drag to bog the motor down. While you're there, confirm the trimmer line isn't extending past the guard or tangled inside the spool, as excessive line length creates drag a small electric motor struggles to overcome. Also, check your extension cord, this trimmer is very sensitive to voltage drop. Use a minimum 16 gauge cord for runs up to 50 feet, and 14 gauge for up to 100 feet. If everything checks out, you will need to replace the Spool, part number FIX17787643, and the Spool Spring, part number FIX18994277. A worn spool combined with a broken spring can cause the head to slip under load and rob the trimmer of cutting power. Glad to be of assistance!
