Could not activate the compactor
It simply required removing two screws that were holding in the remaining piece of the broken actuator, positioning the new actuator, and reinstalling the screws.

Trash compactor wouldn't compact when the food pedal was engaged
I removed 2 screws that held the brokent piece in place. I positioned the new piece and replaced the 2 screws. This is the 3rd time I've done this repair myself, it's so easy.

could not compact the trash
No problem replacing the spring steel tab that actuates the switch for the compactor. My concern it is a poor design and will have to be replaced on a regular basis. Where the spring steel tab is attached to the toe pedal the spring is bent at a 90 degree angle and this is where it broke..high stress area, constantly being worked at this juncture. Expensive little part!!

Part Shered Off At The Screws
Removed the screws holding the remaining piece and replaced it with the new part. Hardest part of this whole issue was making sure that I had the correct part on order. Would have liked to have been able to blow up the diagram for easier viewing.

The compactor was not compacting
The part has broken several times in several years. Each time it required a service call with a hefty fee. The fourth time I decided to do it myself. I ordered the part. It came faster than a service man would have and I installed it myself with a screwdriver in about three minutes. I will treat myself to lunch out with the girls with the money I saved!!!

Compactor would not turn on via the foot pedal
The metal actuator had broken off on my trash compactor. It is held by 2 screws. It was easy to remove the 2 screws to replace the actuator. It was somewhat obvious which way it attached to the frame in order for the actuator to hit the white bush button switch located on the lower right of the compactor.
