The flap/door to the ice maker was broke.
First let me start out by saying Parts Select was by far the best pricing and had SUPER FAST SHIPPING! Literally had the product within 2 days (regular shipping). Matter-of-fact only needed the round white piece for the ice maker door and they sold just the piece without having to buy the kit. Everyone else even Maytag would only sell me the whole kit. Anyway...as if you couldn't tell I am a woman (28) who fixes nothing. Would much rather pay someone to do it : ) However I took it upon myself to try and fix this after bugging my husband for a year. Needless to say I Did it and it took maybe 5 minutes. You do need a torch screwdriver (star shape) and yes it was in my purple girlie tool bag! Just a matter of taking out 5 screws taking the old door/flap off and replacing it! Take the time to clean while everything is already apart too. Very easy , if I can do it anyone can!

Ice Maker broke at the begining of summer !!!!!!
The new Ice Maker Assembly arived in less than 24 hours. I was amazed that it came so fast.

I had already removed the old ice maker in order to get the modle number.

I just took two parts off of the old ice maker and quickly snapped them into place on the new ice maker. Then attached it to the refrigerator in less than 10 minutes. With in a few hours I had ice again !!!!!

I would definatly use partselect.com again.

Vegetables kept freezing regardless of temp setting.
I noticed that the thin plastic flap was missing. I squeezed the housing, unsnapped and pulled. INstalling the new part was just the reverse. No more frozen vegetables.

the water dispenser would not shut off quickly
Pull out fridge and unplug
Remove drip tray from dispenseer
Unscrew face plate (star bit) 2 screws
Carefully disconnect wire strap from faceplate controls
Unscrew dispenser from chute - 3 screws and one is hddend next to actuator.
Carefully disconnect another wire strap to remove unit.
Remove actuator pad
Remove limit switch (i small philips screw)
Replace switch & pad
Re-assemble

Neither the actuator pad nor the limit switch appeared broken or worn but it appears to have solved the problem.

Not a terribly complicaed repair but you need to take care not to damage anything as you take apart. More work than just changing a filter or bulb.

Ice stripper broken on ice maker
I unplugged the fridge. Loosened the 2 top screws on the ice maker and removed the lower screw. I disconnected the wiring harness and removed the Ice maker. I removed the plastic timer cover in front. I then loosened the screws on the face of the ice maker and removed the broken ice stripper and replaced it with a new one. Re-tightened the screws on the face, installed the timer cover, plugged in the wiring harness, re-attached the ice maker. Plugged the fridge back in and walla, it was making ice in 30 minutes!

Old Icemaker noisy and stopped making Ice
The old icemaker had a bad motor and would stall in the fill cycle causing my kitchen to flood on occasion.

The new one was so quiet, I thought it didn't work!

Anyway, one nutdriver and 5 minutes and I had the new one in there... It is so quiet, and I always have plenty of ice now!!!

Thanks!!!

No water in door or icemaker
From the beginning I have never had good water flow in the door and ice cubes turned out funky. I tried replacing the filter once with hardly noticeable change. The change I did see was $35 less in my pocket. So I bought a filter bypass plug and it now works like a champ. I have well water so I trust its quality and I am very satisfied. I would describe how I did the repair but if you don't no how to change out the filter you probably shouldn't be trying it.

Broken cup water fill on ice maker
I called the local Amana repair man, wanted $150 for a new ice maker because they could not get the part I needed. Found Partsselect.com and the part cost $17 with shipping. They saved me over $100. The repair was very easy too, just removed a couple of screws.

Thanks,
Matt

No water to icemaker
Easy to diagnose problem because there was water to the water dispenser but none to the newly installed icemaker. Originally did attempt to clean the solenoid but found the plunger assembly damaged.

New part arrived sooner than I thought it would. Takes about as much time to remove the lower vent cover as to replace the valve. Remove the electrical plug from the wall, valve off the main water supply, remove lower vent cover, disconnect the supply hose from refrigerator valve assembly, remove one hex head mounting screw and you have both water valves in your hands. Identify the valve the supplies water to the filter and the one that supplies water to the icemaker/water dispenser. Then confirm which plastic water supply line goes to the water dispenser and which goes to the icemaker. Hose diameters are different but it is good to know. Disconnect the plastic water supply lines from both the ice dispenser and the icemaker portions of the valve. Replacement solenoid valve does not have thread on type compression fittings. Snip about an inch off of each hose and then press into the appropriate valve orifice.

Making sure the plastic supply lines do not get crimped, remount the valve assembly, reattach the supply hose, valve on the water and check for leaks. No leaks, reinstall dust cover and plug the refrigerator back in.

Move the unit back in place and then take a long deserved beer out and have a celebratory toast for a job well done.

The threads on the yoke shaft stripped.
I had to cut off the old yoke since the threads had stripped and it would not come off. Once I did that all I had to do was to remove 4 screws on the auger motor and replace it with the new auger motor. Then I put the yoke on the new auger motor shaft and then put the unit back in the freezer. Work time was less than 15 minutes with no problems.

Ice door plastic wing on one side broke off, keeping ice shut open.
I first removed the tray at the bottom of the Ice/water compartment, 2nd, removed the 2 star headed screws that are visible and 1 star screw near the water hose. removed front pannel. 3rd removed 4 star screws holding ice/water assembly, let this hang down and was able to reach in and removed the round broken shut door. replaced with new door, Difficult to get new door in but I was lucky and got both side wings in the proper slots. Did everything from above in reverse. New Ice doot works great. I just wish you had sent some type of instructions! Very happy with your company. Other web sites wanted me to buy a complete kit just to get the door assembly. you saved me $30. Thanks
