CTN1911GEW Magic Chef Refrigerator - Instructions

I simply removed the old switch by gently pulling down on the old switch with a screwdriver. When it was about half way out I just gently pulled down on the old switch and it popped out... I removed the two connectors attached to the old switch by pulling on the connectors with a pliers...I tried using my fingers but wasn't able to pull the connectors off so I used pliers. It worked perfectly.. When pulling off the old connectors, make sure you attach the new switch to the same tabs on the new switch... It was very easy to do and took under 5 mins.....The light switch works perfect....P.S. You should unplug the frig while making the connection just in case....Safety first....!!!

inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

Very simple fix, remove 3 screws, two connectors to the old switch

I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!

Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

New knob fit right in.

The light rocker switch wasnt working. I found the part on the web site. It was so easy. I used a screw driver to pop out the old one and pop the new one in. It took 5 min. Thanks!!!

I first removed the freezer shelf, then the back internal freezer wall by removing the 4 screws with my nut driver. Then removed the fan cover, by releasing the clips (6). Then unscrewed the fan mounting brackets (same nut driver), then released the fan. The connector on the replacement fan was different to the original, so I cut both connectors off, and reattached the 2 wires with wire nuts.
I then reassembled everything, and all is well. The refrigerator was successfully repaired

First, I killed the power to the refrigerator at the main power panel. (Safety First) Fridge had it's own breaker so it was easy. UNPLUG the fridge if you are not sure how to kill the power. Then I took out ice cube trays and rack along with freezer shelf. The ice cube rack has two screws underneath into the fridge side body which need to be taken out. Freezer shelf comes right out.(no fasteners) To get to the evap fan motor easily you need to remove the rear freezer panel. There are four hex head screws that come out with a 1/4" socket. There are two screws at each top corner and another two about half way down on each side. I used a small socket wrench, but a nutdriver would be better to remove the screws. Because of this, I also had to remove the lens which clips on/off and light bulb at top right corner to get to a screw. Just gently squeeze the plastic lens together at top and bottom and it will pull out then unscrew the light bulb. Gently pull the top of the rear panel towards you until you can see the evap motor. It has a special bracket attached to rear panel with two screws which need to be removed with the SAME 1/4" socket. For access to the fan motor bracket screws, while the panel is pulled out gently and carefully remove the plastic center vent panel which is clipped into slots in the rear panel, similar to the light bulb lens cover, except sideways. This panel directs forced cold air into the freezer and into a slot to the fridge below. Disconnect motor elec. connection.(snaps-together) Unscrew the two motor bracket screws and one grounding wire screw. Remove bracket with motor. Carefully pull off fan blade. Separate motor and bracket and be careful not to lose front and back rubber bushings. Re-assemble with new motor into bracket with rubber bushings. Re-install fan blade and re-install bracket with two screws onto center of rear freezer panel. Connect grounding wire screw and snap-together elec. connection.. Re-install center plastic vent panel and push back rear freezer panel while aligning center panel with slot below. Re-install four panel screws. Re-install light bulb and lens to panel. (if you had to take them off). Re-install ice cube rack (2 screws) and freezer shelf (align and push in) Turn on breaker or plug back in. YOU"RE DONE. My fridge now works better than new.

I ordered a freezer shelf to add a shelf. Tried to install when arrived only to discover that the 2 brackets were needed and I didn't know. Once I ordered the brackets it was a breeze to set it up . Nice to have things so I can actually see the items not being pilled on top of each other. Hopefully will not lose food.

use kitchen knife to pry out. replaced switch assemble and pressed back into place. Could not have done this with out help from previous customers. Thanks

Just used a screw driver. It was real simple.

First I tried to remove the plastic cowling surrounding the evaporator fan, but I just couldn't get all of the fasteners to let go. So, I removed all of the screws that held in the back of the freezer compartment. Once the back was loose, I was able to tilt it forward and then remove the fan cowling. The fan motor was then easy to remove and replace. (I verified that the motor was the problem by checking the voltage in the blue and white wires that feed the motor - the voltage was at zero when the refrigerator temperature switch was set to zero, but went to 120V when I moved the switch above the zero position.) I then replaced the back of the freezer compartment and the refrigerator is cold as it ever was.

The frig had broken brackets on the inner door. I connected the clips to the trim piece and I snapped the entire piece into the slots on the door. Presto! All finished.
