Ice maker stopped working
No prior experience in appliance repair. The majority of time was used in researching the problem and how to fix it. The Parts-Select website and the comments of prior customers made it easy to diagnose and repair. Unplugged the unit, popped of the ice maker cover to get it out of the way, unscrewed the plate covers for the emitter and receiver, changed them out, replaced the covers, replaced ice maker cover, plugged in. Moved on to the next problem.

Ice Maker Did not make ice
I simply followed the step by step instructions demonstrated in the online videos for replacing the electronic control boards - emitter and receiver. Just that simple. 15 minutes later the repairs were completed. We've had ice ever since.

Ice Maker not working
There were excellent entries on the net of how to diagnose problem. Parts Select website had an excellent video on how to change part. Just followed instructions and changed parts in about 15 minutes. I am usually a klutz, but this was so easy

Ice machine stopped making ice
Open freezer door and close flap on the left being sure not to block the infrared beam. If red light goes solid in a few seconds the Emitter receive and xmit boards are good. Unplugged fridge, Took the ice machine out took off the motor/controller cover and jumpered the two test points together with a short length of insulated wire. place the ice maker back on bracket to free up my hands and plugge in the fridge, turned ice maker on. Closed the flap and ensured red light was on solid and I was not blocking the beam... the motor control wheel did not turn slowly/cycle as it should have with the jumper inserted... Motor/controller assembly was bad. Pulled out icemaker and noticed some corrosion in the ice tray so ordered the entire ice maker instead of just the motor/control assembly... cost only about $30 more. New ice maker arrived and I installed, took about 10 hours before it got cold enough and began making ice.

My refrigerator light did not work.
After years of using a flash light to check the contents of my refrigerator, I decided to try to fix the problem myself. Replacing the light switch was very easy. The directions were straight forward and I'm sorry I waited so long to tackle the problem.

Ice Maker stopped making Ice.
Opened freezer section of refergerator and taped Ice Maker cover door in the open position to remove emitter and receiver boards. Unscrewed the phillips head screws that secure the emitter board housing to the refrigerator side wall. Turned off power to the refrigerator and unpluged the emitter, removed the 2 screws that hold the emitter board against the housing and removed it, then I installed the new emitter board in the housing by screwing it in place. Repeated same process for removal and replacement of the receiver board. The whole process took me about 10 minuets.

No ice production.
We had cleaned the electronic eyes off several times which yielded one or two days of ice production. Since we could tell the ice maker was receiving water and producing ice we went ahead and replaced the controller. Now the ice maker is working like a champ. The instructions were easy to follow and the part was delivered quickly. Unplugged the fridge. Three screws on opposite sides of the freezer, plug in the emitter and receiver boards and replace the screws. Plug the fridge back in and away it went.

Ice dispenser did not work
The motor turned but the shaft had worn and was smooth rather than hexagon in cross-section. Part Select had the exploded view of the mechanism, which I could not find on Kitchenaid's site and I was able to order a replacement shaft, which I did and got within 3 days. I replaced the shaft without any difficulty and now I can enjoy my cocktails with ice from the in-door dispenser without sticking my hand in the ice bin. I am very pleased with Part Select, their website, their stock of parts and their efficiency.
