59670003002 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Followed the online PartSelect video instructions and it was very helpful. The ice maker has to cycle through before it starts making ice so don't be alarmed when nothing happens when you first hook it up.

Merely remove the front bottom screw that attached the ice maker to the refrigerator
Lift the ice maker gently off of the 2 top screws
Unplug the icemaker wiring harness from the back of the refrigerator, and remove
Snap off the end of the maker and remove the keeper for the wire arm
Remove the wire arm and install on new maker
Unplug the wiring harness from the old maker and plug into the new one
Plug the harness into the refrigerator, slip the new maker over the top screws, with the water feed tube inserted into the maker
Install bottom screw into the bracket that holds it in place.
This took less than 5 minutes.

Loosen the screws on the sidewall (don't take them all the way out and drop them on the floor as I did) and remove the screw from the bottom bracket. Change out the electrical wires and the wire level sensor that does not come with the new unit. Put the new one in place and give it some time to cool down and make ice ( don't be impatient like I was and think the new unit was bad or that you replaced the wrong part)

replaced water valve and new icemaker.

I took out 1 screw , unplugged the icemaker and lifted it out and installed the new one and had ice in no time at all. can't get much easier.

use kitchen knife to pry out. replaced switch assemble and pressed back into place. Could not have done this with out help from previous customers. Thanks

I got the product very quickly. (thank you) Looked at online instructions that were quite vague. Pulled plug.Removed the holder for the fan motor slid it out to see what I had. Removed the mounting screws (3) and slid the motor an fan blade out. I made a cut between the wires and marked the "top" wire to motor to be sure to spin in right direction. Removing fan blade hold down clamp was NOT explained at all but I noted that the shaft on the motor was threaded, so I used pliars and held the shaft white un-screwing clamp. I cleaned the fan blades with degreaser and scraped edges of opening on holder opening. Make sure to use ALL the NEW parts included with this kit when re-installing. They send them for a reason. When slpicing and connecting wires it is a 50/50 shot if you don't mark before cutting. You can connect and try plugging fridge back for moment and make sure it is blowing OUT. Put everything back together and after turning DOWN the thermostats twice, fridge is back to usual. Ice maker is cranking out ice and outside case is cool to the touch.

Note: This can be a DIRTY job especially with 4 dogs in house. Fir and grease don't mix well

First I completely emptied out all the inside of the refrigerator door to lighten the weight of the door. Then I removed the 3 screws on top of the fridge which held the door in place. It was pretty easy to lift up the door and remove it from the bottom hinge. I removed and replaced the door closure and re-assembled the door.

Unfortunately that didn't fix the issue. The door still doesn't close on it's own. The door doesn't get lifted up at all when I open it so I assume that the counterpart to the door closure within the door itself is broken.

Remove the food from the refrigerator.Turn off the water and unplug the refrigerator. Remove the freezer door to permit access (It just lifts up and out) Remove the steel cover at the water connection with a nut driver. Remove the current ice maker by disconnecting the electric connection by pinching the tabs & Remove the 3 nuts holding the existing ice maker. Upon removal i noticed that the filler tube had frozen likely part of the cause of the leak. Remove the Filler tube where the water connection is located by prying with a putty knife. Remove the electrical harness and the lever arm that permits or turns off the ice maker. Install the harness and lever arm on the new ice maker. Install the new filler tube which i noticed was modified with 3 rectangular holes, from the original part, perhaps to prevent freezing up. ReInstall the water connection with the clip.Install the ice maker with the top 2 nuts loosely installed and hang the unit on the 2 nuts. Position the filler tube into the ice makeer. Reconnect the electric harness. Install the final nut at the bottom of the ice maker and securely fasten all 3 nuts. Turn the water back on and reinstall the ice maker tray, with the lever arm in the down ON position. Check for any leaks. Observe overnite to determine if ice is made and check for leaks. Reinstall the Freezer Door. While i was doing all this I also took off the bottom rear cover of the refrigerator fan motor, and removed all the dust and dirt and i also used a refrigerator coil brush to remove dust from the coils from the front of the unit.

Since it was an older appliance I decided to replace the whole ice maker assembly. I carefully disassembled the old one and then installed the new one. piece of cake.

unscrewed the 3 nuts, took off the electrical connection. Then put new one on. One problem, the ice maker had a hole on the side for the hose, mine needed one in the back. I used tape to hold it in place going over the part that was in the wrong place.

I have a Maytag Refridgerator with lower freezer and ice maker. Stopped making ice. Noticed the unit would fill up and freeze but the tray wouldn't rotate to drop the cubes into the tray. Cleared the frozen trays to see if it was just stuck but same thing happened. Replaced unit, not difficult with the exception that the top tray is ridiculously hard to get out. Never did do it, just worked around it. Working perfect now.

Repair done according to video and instructions. What you need to know is myself and my husband are adverse to all kinds of "simple" repairs because they never go well and we are not handyman kind of persons. This, I must say, was a delightful change in our typical experience of attempting to make our own repairs.

First i used a nut driver to remove the bottom screw, the unclipped the two top clips by leaningthe bottom of the unit outwards. I used a mirror to see the two top clips as i could not see inside. Then i removed the wiring harness from the refrigerator. The unit came right out, i transerred the needed parts, and re-installed. Not too bad - about 45 mins. It works great!
