deformed freezer gasket
first I took the inside freezer panel off. Pulled off the deformed gasket. I noted how it was attached to the door. I then took the new gasket and placed it on the panel and reattached the panel to the freezer door. The screws are small and can get easily misplaced. Use a recepticle to hold the screws, it does make the job much easier. I also used a power drill which made the job move along nicely. Easy as pie. Thanks. I know where to get my parts in the future.

The left side crisper frame and support post (plastic pieces) were broken.
I emptied the refrigerator, pulled out the crisper drawers, removed the left side crisper frame and support post, slid in the new frame and post (no tools required), reinstalled the crisper drawers, reloaded all the food back into the refrigerator. I was done in less than 15 minutes. One of the easiest repairs I have ever had to do.

I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!
Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

Missing crisper drawer support post
I recently bought an old Amana refrigerator for my garage on CraigsList for 75 bucks. It was in great condition for its age, but was missing the post that supports the fruit and veggie crisper drawers. I did a Google search, quickly found PartSelect, and just as quickly located and ordered the missing part, which was reasonably priced. PartSelect promised it woud be delivered in 3-5 days by FedEx Ground and it was. I took it out of the box, removed the crisper backets - and glass cover for them - installed the post and WHA-LA, the crisper backets work just as good as when the fridge was new! Couldn't have had an on-line mal-order operation go any slicker!

Leaky and moldy gaskets
Our refrigerator is about 29 years old. We were told once that a gasket repair would cost more than a new fridge. Not so. It cost about $230 for both the fridge and freezer gasket. We had some rust that had developed from not replacing them sooner around some of the screws. They had to be cut out and replaced with the next size up to hold well. We cleaned everything thoroughly including behind the door compartments. We took those off the door. The guy in the video doesn’t do that. We replaced our freezer insulation also as it had gotten wet and was completely frozen. Overall, it took much longer because of our neglect over the years and believing someone when they said to just buy a new refrigerator. We love this one again, as much as we did when we bought it. The gaskets fit perfectly and after taping the doors shut overnight, they seal extremely well. We are very pleased.

Fan was noisy - bearing had failed
It's self-explanatory. The procedure is obvious; it's just a little difficult. The only hard part is attaching the mounting brackets to the fan. If you can't tighten the mounting bolts, loosen them and reposition the brackets. You might end up mispositioning them at first, because they are hard to reach.

refrigerator section warm 62 degrees, freezer normal
Started with internet searches then began with removal of wall plate at back of freezer, pulled power cord first. Found evaporator coil completely frozen over.Went back to internet and searched possible causes. It seemed to me that the auto defrost system may not be functioning properly so I considered possible causes. Defrost thermostat, defrost timer, or possibility heater itself. I chose to go with simple stuff first and thought heater would have a better relibility characteristic. Went to Parts select got part numbers and was able to find part locations on the appliance. So far so good, and knock on wood! Thanks Parts select I spent $50 bucks instead of $1000.

The freezer would frost up because the gasket didn't close tightly
First we read all the comments by other handymen. This was really helpful. Then we took the door off and removed the old gasket with a nut driver. We tried to slip the new gasket under the edge with a thin spatula and didn't have much luck. Then we remembered someone saying that is was a good time to take the door apart and check to see if there was ice build up in the door. It was so bad we took out the frozen insulation and replaced it with new....$4.00 at the hardware store. While the door was apart we put the gasket on and put it in place and tightened it to the door. This worked very well for us. This saved us from having to buy a new refrigerator/ freezer. Thanks.

Freezer Door Gasket needed replaced.
There were no instructions with the new gasket which made the job difficult. After great difficulty I called an appliance store and learned that the gasket should be soaked for several minutes in very hot water to make it pliable and easier to install. Also, the plastic insert that the gasket fits into should only be loosened and not removed when inserting the gasket. Lastly, the door should be removed and placed on a table to allow leverage to be applied. Installing it while still on the door is almost impossible.

Gaskets were not sealing due to wear
I loosened(but did not remove) the 1/4" sheetmetal screws around the perimeter of the door liner. (they are numerous and they are hidden in the fold of the gasket) I removed the old gasket. With the screws still loose, I installed the new gasket. After insallation I re-tightened the liner screws. Several gaps were noted and eliminated by gently heating the gasket with a hair dryer. (be patient , it takes some time)
