The service man that I hired to fix my Ice maker removed the broken one. This is how I saw how easy it was to install. When the new one arrived all I had to do was plug it in then tighten 2 screws with the right size nut driver. This was the hardest part of the install havng the right tool for the job. Now I have Ice!

LOOSENED THE TWO SMALL SCREWS THAT HOLD THE ICE MAKER UP INSIDE THE FREEZER. DISCONNECTED THE WIRING HARNESS. TOOK THE OLD ICE MAKER OUT AND JUST INSTALLED THE NEW ONE IN REVERSE ORDER. LATER THAT DAY I HAD FRESH ICE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WEEKS!

Loosened 2 screws, lifted icemaker brackets off of loosened retaining screws, unplugged electrical connector from the icemaker.
plugged in the supplied jumper harness & connected to the new icemaker, hung it on the loosened screws, secured the 2 screws.
Dranke beer & listened to my new icemaker rock & roll.
No further problems, Frigie like new.
The price was the cheapest I could find. $78.00 total including shipping.
A little girl could replace this unit.

It was just a simple replacement, three nuts to loosen , a slight adjustment on the timer and reversal installation...As simple as replacing a light bulb! You needn't be a brain surgeon to do this job! Your installation video was very helpful....Thank you PartSelect Chuck McCann

Pulled unit away from wall and shut off water and unplugged unit. Installed water valve and reassembled, plugged back in and turned on water and checked for leaks. All good. However there is no water getting into the ice maker. The unit itself is going thru a cycle of attempting to make ice and the bail is moving and you can hear the solenoid activate but no water. I have tried to blow thru the tube going to the maker but it seems to be plugged by something. I do not know if there is another valve up there or how to clean it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

installed new ice maker. Was very esay - the only problem I had was the length of the wire, due to the need to use the adapter, was hard to menauver around so that it didn't contact the bottom of the ice maker. Would be best if it was configured so that you had the right wire connection and didn't have to use the adaptor.

Turned off water, unplugged refrigerator, Removed defective unit with support bracket. Installed support bracket, adjusted flow screw per instructions, plugged in wiring with adapter, hung on screws, tighened screws, secured excess wiring harness (making sure it did not hang below icemaker per instuctions), turned on water, plugged in refrigerator. Comment it took a few hours to start making ice, air in line? After a couple of days seems to be working fine.

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires...)

The best thing about the whole experence was I recieved the part the next day and it was so simple.

Took about an hour previously to deice freezer, timer was running,drain was open, jumped defrost thermostat out and heater was O.K. Defrost thermostat was just a plug and play item, the time involved was in taking the freezer apart to get to it.

The screws holding the ice maker in place were backed out about a turn and a half or so. The icemaker was raised about 1/2 inch to clear the bolt heads. The icemaker was extended just enough to access the wiring harness connector. The connector was released, and the ice maker was removed. The replacement unit extension was unneeded. The wiring harness connector was attached, and the wire was wire-tied out of the way. The icemaker unit was placed over the screw heads, rested in place and the screws were tightened (only snug). Easy-peasy!

The repair was a simple swap of icemakers with a 1/4" nutdriver. I didnt get the first unit sent after 7 days, so I called PartSelect. They were very courteous and understanding. My icemaker arrived within 12 hours of my phone call! Excellent!

First of all thanks to all who posted their stories, because those stories helped me to narrow down what could have gone wrong with my fridge. I did not know how frost-free refrigerators worked at all, reading your stories and doing some on_line research I understood the theory behind the work. My freezer was working constantly, but fridge was warm, cold air would not reach to fridge because freezer was completely frosted.
I had ordered defrost heater, defrost timer and thermostat. I was sure one of these parts was the problem.
First I used flat screwdriver to turn the timer manually untill frdge stopped running(timer is on the left bottom corner behind the black decoratve plastic under the door) . Waited about 20-30 min, checked ,freezer was still frosted. I disconnected the fridge from the wall socket and took shelves out from freezer compartment. This is where hair-dryer came in handy or you could wait till ice would melt on its own, which could take long time.Then loosend 2 screws on left wall that were holding icemaker unit half-way , unplugged the icemaker and took it out. Then took the light-bulb and cover off. Next I unscrewed and took the posts out that were holding shelves in place. Then I took remaining screws from back wall out and gently pulled back cover up then forward a little until I could see electrical connectors behind the cover and unpluged them. Back wall cover was ready to come out. I discovered thick wall of ice covering entire cooling unit. Used handy hair dryer again. When the ice melted, I saw the thermostat was busted open ( Iguess water or moisture got into the unit, then froze and ice pop-openned the cover damaging one of the connecting wires). I diconnected wires and changed the thermostat , which was very easy, just one clip holding it in place . Then plugged the fridge and checked if heating unit was working by touching it. Negative. Closed the door and let fridge run for 15 min, turn timer with screwdriver until fridge stopped working, cheked heater again- wallah it was warm and then it got really HOT! and melted all of the new frost build-up(a sign that thermostat was working). Closed the door waited another 15-20 min, fridge came-on on its own. Unplugged the fridge, pulled it forward from the wall and used sponge to drain the water from holding tray- about one half gallon of it. This is a good time to use a vacuum clener to undust the back and under the fridge. Then put everything back, in reverse order, ofcourse. Cleaned fridge and freezer compartments with warm soap and winneger solution (really good- this was a present to my wife who took our two little daughters to grandmmas and out of my way), put everything back and turned the fridge on recommended settings. Its been 5 days allready and it works great ( I used thermometr to check temperature inside the fridge and freezer). I'm thinking of returning defrost heater and timer back.Thanks PartSelect.Com, I saved lots of money. Hope this story will be helpfull to someone.Thanks for your time!

was very easy. just ordered a new ice maker which was delivered in a few days. The installation was so simple. Just plugged the new ice maker in and hung the unit on the 2 screws. And then tightened the screws with a 1/4 in nut driver.

1-Unpluged the refrigerator 2- removed ice cube tray and some food( Placed in cooler )3- unscrewed the two screws holding the old unit lowering it and unplugged it. 4- Had to loosen the cooling coil to get to the pass through hole in the back and pulled the old wire out. Connected the wire adaptor to the old connectorand to the new ice maker. At this point I couldn`t pass the new plug through the back so I strapped it out of the way and installed the new ice maker using the two screws from the old one. Adjusted the fill adjustment and turned it on. Cubes in about 4 hours.

This would have been an easy repair, but I bought the Frig from Lowes and I think they added the icemaker. The replacement icemaker uint has a plug on it for easy replacement. My frig was hard wired so I had to cut off the plug and splice the wires. Not a real big deal but a small work space.
