59668043801 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I placed the back of the bracket into the slot in the rear of the refrigerator and stretched the front plastic rim on the glass shelf over the front of the new center rail until it snapped into place (all the while hoping I didn't cause further damage to my refridgerator!) and wa-la, piece of cake! My impatience paid off this time!

Unplug appliance. Socket wrench to unscrew two screws. Module drops down. disconnected two press-on wires by prying off with screwdriver. Removed old switch. Press-fit new switch. Reconnected two wires (color coded). Screwed module back in place. Plug in appliance.

Removed drawers, lifted glass shelf, installed new part

I simply removed the drawers and replaced the assembly. I didn't even need tools!
The part arrived so quickly and it was easy to find. I will definitely use part select again!

Used a screwdriver to pry loose the old switch, swapped wires to the new switch and pushed it into the opening. Took about 2 minutes.

Took off the broken rail and dropped in the new one with only a slight pressure of the plastic shelf frame shelf. Took about 30 seconds.

I had to remove the 2 drawers, naturally, but then found I also had to remove the glass shelf and bracket that holds them, because the end of the center rail had broken off and stuck in the recess of the shelf. No problem. Washed the shelf and the end piece fell out, eliminating the need for pliers or tweezers. Put the new center rail in place, replaced the shelf, replaced the 2 crisper drawers and, "voila" - good as new (until next time some big, strong guy slams the crisper drawer). Thanks for quick delivery; I don't often get in the mood to fix things, so when I do it's nice the part arrives before my fixing-muse flies away.

Finding the part that I needed was incredibly easy. I usually leave all repairs to my husband but I was getting frustrated that my vegetables were freezing due to the drawer laying right on the wall dividing the freezer area. I took it upon myself to search for parts by using the refrigerator model number, This site is the BEST!! By providing pictures of the parts and where they go I was able to order the correct one. It arrived within a few days and I installed it in less than 5 minutes. I was relieved that I had ordered the correct part and my husband was pleasantly surprised that I took care of it myself. The rail had broken off, so there was nothing to remove, except the crisper drawers. I had called an amana repair service and the repairman told the part was about $9 and the cost to install was $127. When I almost fainted, he told me I could probably do it myself. Wow, was he right! I ordered the part, it came in about 2 days, I looked at the rail, removed the glass shelf, hooked the rail into the little opening at the back, and bang! All done. It took me 10 seconds!!

Although there where no instructions, reading the comments by others made this a really easy replacement.

Part was easy to order, delivered quickly, installation very easy. Just unplug the unit, pop out the old swich using a screwdriver, disconnect and reconnect leads and pop switch back in. Definitely recommend that you can do it too.

removed the shelf inserted the new rail, replace the shelf and the crisper bins.

Took out both crispers. Removed glass shelf on top of crisper support. Removed small broken piece of rail still held in place. Inserted new crisper rail and put crispers back in place.

I used a knife blade to slip under the edge of old switch to pray it out of the hole it was inserted into, switched the wires and replaced the new switch into the same hole. It took about five minutes!
