1069638211 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I was pleased with the new ice maker and how soon I received it. I was disappointed because there were NO installation instructions that came with it. There were only service instructions that came with it. I contacted partselect and was told that they get the part from whirlpool and they are responsible for everything and was given a phone number to call. I called Whirlpool and was informed that they don't provide installation instructions, I said that on the web page is boldly displayed an installation instruction sheet. Whirlpool said that they expect that the installation person knows what they are doing. I let it go and was very careful taking the old one out and installing the new ice maker and the new pump.

This problem can be caused by 3 different part failures. Timer, thermostat or heater. After contacting a service repair shop I was told that most often it is the thermostat. The cost of the repair would be at least $115. To much for an old refer. So I ordered the part from Partselect for $33. and put it in myself. Step1 cut the power to the refer. Step2 remove ice maker if you have one. Step3 remove base and back panels in the freezer. Step4 the coils were badly frozen so I used a hair dryer to thaw it out. Would have waited a long time for it to thaw out otherwise. Step5 The thermostat is clipped on to copper tubing next to the coils. Unclip it and cut the wires close to the thermostat. Strip the wires and wire nut the new thermostat. Clip it back on to the copper tubing. Put it all back together and start it up. It's over a week know and no problems. Note: We have whirlpool appliances that are over 16 years old. I have repaired the washer, oven, and now the refer with parts from Partselect. Good company. Always received the correct part within about 3 days from ordering. If you are able to do the work yourself you can save big bucks and keep your appliances running longer. Good Luck

Remove inside door trim plate. Then removed three screws that held in the light assembly. The only difficult thing was reconnecting the temperature adjustment rod. After replacing this rod you must slide the temperature control slide to midway and this hold the rod in place while reinstalling the light assembly. If I were to do it again it would probably take me half as long.

Went to various websites looking for guidance. Finally went to PartSelect since I had previously purchased dryer parts. I entered the model info, etc. from my refrigerator and ordered the ice maker installation kit. The install was fairly easy and everything worked perfectly. I am very satisfied I could do the work myself versus calling a repair technician.

After watching the video it was a snap. Defrosting the freezer took the longest time. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice. Once the freezer compartment was clear of ice the removal and installation were a step by step procedure which the video showed in detail. It's been about a week since I installed the bimetal defrost thermostat and it seems to be working like new. Sure glad I researched this problem on the internet instead of calling a very expensive repairman! Thanks partselect. Com!!!

Emptied the freezer. Removed the back panel. (six screws)Removed the fan cover.(4 screws) Unplugged the power. Unplugged three wires from the motor. (hot-neutral-ground)Removed the fan. (2 screws) Installed the new fan and centered for clearance. Reversed the prior instructions.

Ordered the complete ice maker kit because I wasn't sure which part went bad. I replaced the ice maker assembly first which was very easy to do. I couldn't tell if the new ice maker was doing anything. I waited almost 16 hours before the ice maker started to run and make ice. I would just say to be patient after installing these parts if you don't immediatly see anything happening. Saving the solenoid and other extra parts if needed in the future.

Pulled up part select video on u-tube. Followed instructions on dissambly of top freezer and found condensor freezing up blocking air from refrigerator. Checked timer to make sure it was good. Next checked continuity on heater to make sure it was good. Last checked bi-metal thermostat for continuity while cold. Found Bi-metal part to be defective (also rubber in top of was popped up which is a sign of a bad part). Simply ordered new part from Part Select, received in 2 days and replaced Bi-metal and melted ice with hair dryer and reassembled freezer. While waiting on part you can still use refrigerator by melting ice so air can get to refrigerator. I put a towel in bottom of freezer to catch water. Greg W. in Ga.

The fix was easy. I jacked up the unit and put on blocks. I used socket and ratchet removed the wheels. Reinstall new ones and let off the blocks.

took shelf off of freezer, took ice cube maker out, took back panel off changed defrost thermostat.then re-assembled.

Unplugged the refrigerator then removed two vertical screws on the very back back of the control panel (the ones with the washers). Do not remove the four other vertical screws in the panel. The front plastic plate on control panel snaps off and there are two horizontal screws under the plate. Remove them and the control panel will drop down allowing access to the light switch. Unplug the two wires (one black and one white) from the old switch. Discard the old switch, snap the new one into place and reconnect the two wires. Snap the front plastic plate back into place, plug in the refrigerator and you are done! Problem solved with a new $16.00 switch and saved at least $75.00 or more from an appliance repair call. My husband and I are novices when it comes to repairing ANYTHING. This was are first attempt at repairing a major appliance. I love my refrigerator which came with the house we recently purchased. We followed the instructions provided by the Parts Select videos and the instructions that came with the parts we ordered. It was really easy, a few things were different in the video because our fridge is over 10 years old but not too hard to figure out. Follow the video and paper instructions and you can't go wrong. We took out the food and put in our second fridge and freezer, unplugged the appliance and let it defrost for 24 hours. We vacuumed the coils which were really clogged with dust and used a wet dry vac to drain the water collection pan at the bottom of the fridge. We took of the back panel of the appliance and located the Run Capacitor as instructed in the video, unplugged the bad one a replaced with the new one. Easy to do, took 15 mins and that was because of where the part was located. To replace the Evaporator Fan Motor with Fan Blade we took the back panel off in the freezer, our fridge has the freezer in the top, unscrewed the old motor and replaced with the new one as instructed by the video. Double checked everything with the paper instructions and replaced the back panel 15 to 20 mins. Our refrigerator is running like new.

First I entered my model #, then picked the symptom, then went with the odds when presented with the likely suspects. The run capacitor, and bi-metal defrost timer had the highest % of guilt. Most of the time was spent defrosting the coils with a hair dryer. The run capacitor took 3 minutes to remove and replace. I snipped out the old defrost timer and used butt connectors to wire up the new one. The old timer flunked the continuity test when placed in salted ice water. The freezer/fridge runs like new, for about $66. The run capacitor was probably ok but I left the new one in, being too lazy to send it back. "Part Select" was a great partner in helping to fix my machine.

Removed items and defrosted freezer. I then removed metal shelves, ice maker, bottom sliding tray and false bottom, freezer back, and light bulb with wire track. Cut wires to defrost thermostat and spliced in new thermostat. Reassembled shelves, back, etc., in reverse order. Old thermostat tested "open" in hot and cold water with Ohm meter tester.

Just followed the video that you guys had on line . It was a very easy repair
