JCB2285KEP Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

We removed the old switch, unplugged it, plugged the new one in and it was easy to do. But when we tried to put the switch back in we had a very hard time doing it. Eventually got it in, but if it had not been for the difficulty we had getting the new switch to snap in to place, it would have taken under 5 minutes.

Removed top hinge cover and socketed out hinge nuts. Lifted door off bottom hinge. Socketed out broken bottom cam and replaced with new. Reset door with someone lifting and the other guiding. Reattached top hinge and cover. Voila.

Replacing the icemaker is pretty simple. Three screws, an electrical connector. Hardest part is getting to the icemaker since the freezer is below the refrigerator.

Ice maker assembly required disconnection of the wire harness at the back of the freezer and the removal of 3 hex nuts. The assembly did not come with a new wire harness nor the rigid wire attached to the hinge that can be raised to stop production of ice. The wire harness was easy to disconnect from the old assembly by pressing in on a tab. The rigid wire attached to the hinge simply required pulling straight out of the hinge-hole (no need to twist, slide, or perform other contortions...it does require significant force to remove, but it does pull straight out). It was simple to attach it to the new ice assembly. Reinstalled the 3 hex nuts and wire harness plug and was good to go....after waiting several hours! I was worried at first because the unit did not immediately fill with water after I plugged the fridge back into the wall socket. However, after the freezer was cold enough, the water did run and I had my first ice dump within about 3 hours of finishing the installation. Unloaded refrigerator. Pulled refrigerator from wall. Removed bottom panel on back and replaced bolt. Reversed steps but leveled rear wheel before reloading.

installed replacement ice maker kit. 1st removed power. next loosened 2 upper phillips screws. then removed lower phillips screw and lifted and removed old ice maker. released wiring connector and pulled entire unit out of freezer. then i reversed the procedure to install the old unit. check youtube for instructional videos.

I looked at a video on YouTube that described how to check if the water inlet valve was working. By using an ohm meter, it indicated the water valve was bad. I could hear the ice maker trying to make ice. I ordered the part; it was shipped that day. The email confirmation also had a video on how to change. I watched and changed it out quickly. The valve is easy to take out by disconnecting the water line and quick disconnect electrical line. (Turn off water and unplug unit). I took pictures of my steps so I could remember the valve orientation. The new valve went in the same way in just 2 minutes. I needed a 1/4 inch nut driver.

We had a full ice tray in 24 hours.

Our freezer door handle popped off and I learned how to put it back by watching a YouTube video.

I am not handy at this type of repair but this was a great experience. Thank you!!

Killed the power to the fridge. Then, used a small, thin screwdriver to depress the clip on the bottom of the switch and wriggled the old switch out. The two wires easily came off the contacts with pliers. Connected the wires to the new switch and snapped it into the hole--clip facing down and contacts facing up. Turned the power back on and checked the switch. Worked perfectly! Easy job.

As per instructions. Removed parts from old ice maker, and installed them on new one, Then installed it in the freezer. Works good.

Unplugged refrigerator,cleaned out freezer.Removed shelves in freezer compartment(that took some figuring to unlock sliding sheves)Our freezer is on the bottom.Removed four screws from back cover to expose fan,removed screws and attached wires.Carefully opened plastic clips after pulling fan off shaft.Replaced old motor after reattaching rubber seals.Closed clips to hold motor and placed fan back on shaft.Reattach wires and screws. Put cover back and replaced shelves.Plugged in refrigerator and wallah refrigerator part was cold again!

Followed Youtube video from Free Repair Help. Only problem was getting down low enough to see the pins on the Compressor to plug the replacement Compressor Start Device and Capacitor-could not replace the old clip to hold the unit to the Compressor like the old unit had. At 77 I just have a problem bending over.

Instead of the ice maker unclipping from the wall after one 1/4" screw being removed from the bracket, I had to remove three of the 4 Phillips head screws from the ice bucket slider below the ice maker and swivel it down to allow the ice maker bracket to clear. The two 1/4" screws holding the ice maker to the wall at the top had to be removed and then the ice maker could be pulled away from the freezer wall. The rest of the instructions went according to the video and went well.

Icemaker quit working, so replaced ice maker...was still not working, so realized it was the water inlet valve. Pulled fridge away from the wall, unplugged electrical, removed one screw from old water inlet valve, removed it, unplugged electrical connector, cut one inch of tubing going into inlet of new valve (per instructions). Put back in place, plugged in, and now making ice again. VERY EASY!
