ice auger moter
this is the 2006 model.remove the bottom tray to access the two screws that hold the cover on then remove the screws.the cover will slide out but is kinda tight cause of the door handle but will come out without removing the handle.then open the door and turn off the ice maker and remove the ice bin.there are two bolts to remove with a 1/4 inch nut driver to remove the plastic piece. you can then remove a metal piece and spring that sits on the drive shaft. i used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the drive shaft cause my fingers were too big to fit in the hole.close the door and go back to the panel.there is a cardboard protector that you lift up to expose the motor.the motor sits on a plastic motor mount with two bolts you can remove with a 1/4 inch nut driver. it slides out and you can unplug the wire clip. remove the motor. remove the four bolts that hold the motor to the motor mount then mount the new motorthen put it all back together. it might be a good idea to unplug the fridge before this process. i didnt and when i tested the the ice and water, the water would not shut off. i had to open the door to get the water to shut off then push and hold the reset button to get it to work properly.

Ice auger motor would hum. Would not turn. So Refrigerator would produce ice, but not discharge cube or crushed ice.
1) 2 screws under ice maker inside. Remove them and the steel shaft will pull right out. Close the door and let fridge run.
2) There is 'extend tray' on the outside. Remove it. There is only a plastic tab that needs to be lifted for removal.
3) Behind tray are 2 screws. Remove them then lift slightly and remove whole front assembly. There will be 1 3 wire quick disconnect to remove.
4) there is a quick disconnect on bottom of ice motor...remove
5) there are 4 screws that hold motor in..remove and you are half done.
6) just re-assemble
Piece of cake...YOU CAN DO IT!

Icemaker failed to function and produce more ice
I viewed a YouTube video which showed how to remove, troubleshoot, and replace icemaker. With this information, it was very easy to remove icemaker from refrigerator by removing one screw with a nut driver, moving a tab to remove front cover of icemaker, and pushing up on another tab to slide icemaker out of refrigerator. Separating a connector allowed complete removal. Once on work bench, I could troubleshoot unit and determine that motor had failed. I searched several websites for a replacement, but this site was the easiest to use because it had a full description to ensure I obtained the correct part to match my refrigerator. Installation of new part was straight forward and icemaker works perfectly.

Ice maker stopped
Called a repairman out. For $125 he told me what I already knew! The ice maker wasn't working. Said I needed new emitter boards and ice maker. Would go back to the shop and call me with an estimate. Estimated parts were $330 plus another service call to put them in.
Went on line and found PartSelect. Emitter boards were $87+shipping. Ordered. Arrived in 3 days. 3 screws on each side. Unplugged old boards. Plugged in new. 15 minutes. Still did not work. Took out ice maker and examined. Gear that drives ice ejector fell off. End of shaft broken. Ordered new motor unit from PartSelect. $61+shipping. Arrived in 2 days. Loosened 1 nut screw. Slid ice maker out. Unplugged. Removed motor cover. 3 screws removed motor. Replaced with new motor and reassembled. 15-20 minutes max.
3 hours later had ice coming out for under $160. Wish I had known sooner. Thanks PartSelect.

Was not making ice; blades @ 12:00
The emitter code: Hold the flap that covers the receiver. (On the left) If the emitter does not stay red, the emitter and receiver are defected.
Replaced the emitter and receiver board
Unplug the refrigerator:
I first removed the ice-maker service door by removing the 2 screws at the top. Next, I removed the 3 screws on the lift side that housed the receiver. It is close, so remove the 1 gold screws on the receiver. This will allow you to separate the switch without any damage. Plug the new receiver in and reverse the process. Put the gold screw in to secure the board. Replace the 3 screws back into the receiver panel.
Remove the 3 screws on the right side. The emitter has 2 gold screws. Remove them so I could separate the switch. Plug the new switch in and replace the 2 gold screws.
Place the 3 screws back into the right side panel.
This process took roughly 30 minutes. After assembly, the ice make was dropping ice in 30 minutes.
There are several large parts places in my area but I saved about $35 by ordering online.
I place my order on Friday morning and the part was in my hands Saturday @ 6: 30 PM the next day.
