JSD2789HES Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

Used the flat head screw driver for leveage to pop the door off. Replaced the chill door by placing at an angle and snapping it into place. Works perfectly!

Simply cut the water tube on both sides of connector and push in the new one.

Removed the 3 screws that hold the ice maker in place and remove the cover and level wire. Put the cover and wire on new part and install the 3 screws. Had ice within 1 hour. A very easy job for the do it yourselfer. Suspect the heat coil that melts the cubes was not working in the old unit and cubes stayed in the tray.

Removed broken dairy door (no screws or any tools were used) and replaced with new one purchased from partselect. It took me less than a minute to do :) thanks!

No tool required! Pulled out tray, emptied ice into large bowl for reuse. Pushed in and pulled from inside the coil springed auger until could get old plastic ring off and put new one on. Useing care not to apply too much pressure to ice dispensing end so as not to break housing. Have to turn auger assembly at an angle to compress enough and get old ring off. Needs a little physical strenth & care not to force plastic housing to breaking point. Worked great reused saved ice. Took less than 10 minutes

removed old ice maker by taking out a couple of screws in the back of freezer,when new ice maker arrived i saw that it didn't have the same hose apparatus as old one so I easily took apart old one then took apart new one and switched them out-very-- easily done for a 61 yr old lady I might add-- also had to reinstall ice maker arm off old ice maker as new one does not come with one Then installed new ice maker in freezer I am very very pleased,sure saved a lot of money doing it my self

This was the third icemaker replaced since January 1999. Improvement need to be made in the design of the icemaker so that more than 2-3 years of life is available.
The most difficult part was disconnecting the power plug in the back of the icemaker. You must squeeze the upper and lower tabs together and pull out at the same time to disconnect. Once this is done, take out one nut head screw, lift up on the icemaker and remove from the hanger. Be careful that you don't break the plastic tabs on the hangers. Replace new icemaker in reverse, feed water supply where it must go in the back, resnap onto hangers, replace the nut head screw and snap in the power plug. It took about 2 hours before the icemaker began making ice. It has been working fine ever since. PS. I saved about $200.00 over having a repairman come in and replace the unit.

I could not find the part online because the description did not match the owners manual for the refrigerator. I called the 800 number and decribed what I was looking to replace. They found the part immediately, gave me the part number and then I ordered it online. The part arrived sooner than expected and was wrapped in protective paper as the part was very fragile with a small circuit board on the back. The repair was easier than I thought and saved me nearly $500 in a service call and installation. Thank You - the refrigerator is as good as new.

I turned off the fridge. Used a nut driver to remove panel and defrosted coils with a hair dryer. Undid the old assembly and plugged in the new one, put panel back on and turned fridge back on. I have replaced the Adaptive Defrost Timer and the Defrost Heater and Thermostat Assembly.

Very easy to order from parts select. Took seconds to replace.

I took out the bottom two food baskets and one shelf. Removed two screws with a 1/4" nut driver. Then took two screws of the cooling element of which the defrost element was attached underneath. Disconnected two plugs and replaced the new part. The easiest repair I have ever done.

First off, We have an extended warranty however, they said it was not coverered since it did not affect the function of the refrigerator (except that we lost refrigerator space and could no longer use that section of the fridge!!!) They said it was cosmetic!! After having a repair person come out and tell for the part and repair it would be $217.00.
I then got on line and looked up the part which with shipping cost us 37.00. My husband installed the part in no time.
Word of advice: make sure when you purchase warranties that you check the fine print ,because there are all different levels of warranty.

Remove 1 screw under ice maker. Gently pull downwards to unhook ice maker. Disconnected 4 pin wire connector. Remove and set aside the cover and wire loop you will need on new ice maker. Reverse the steps to install new maker. Once new ice maker is installed you will have to wait 2-4 hours for ice. There is a thermostat that will need to reach 10 degrees F to operate.

Replaced filter with by-pass plug. For some reason though, ice maker does no longer functions, although there is flow out of the cold water tap. Is the design of the bypass plug such that, when installed, it impedes flow to the ice-maker?

I removed the broken ice bucket support enclosure using the nut driver and screw driver. The new part had to have the ice bucket motor attached. The metal piece that attaches to the motor shaft had to first be removed, which was somewhat difficult (careful! the thread is reversed). The motor and spring assebly had to be re-attached to the new ice bucket support enclosure piece.
This repair was relatively easy.
