JCB2282KTW Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

Ice maker assembly required disconnection of the wire harness at the back of the freezer and the removal of 3 hex nuts. The assembly did not come with a new wire harness nor the rigid wire attached to the hinge that can be raised to stop production of ice. The wire harness was easy to disconnect from the old assembly by pressing in on a tab. The rigid wire attached to the hinge simply required pulling straight out of the hinge-hole (no need to twist, slide, or perform other contortions...it does require significant force to remove, but it does pull straight out). It was simple to attach it to the new ice assembly. Reinstalled the 3 hex nuts and wire harness plug and was good to go....after waiting several hours! I was worried at first because the unit did not immediately fill with water after I plugged the fridge back into the wall socket. However, after the freezer was cold enough, the water did run and I had my first ice dump within about 3 hours of finishing the installation. I read the previous repair story and agree with the author that the screw behind the front piece was difficult to remove and re-install. If I had a magnetized nut driver I think it would have been easier. There were no installation instructions so I relied upon the repair experiences. The other two screws came out easily and I found the harness release easily and the harness was easy to reinstall.
I am not a good handyman but was able to install the new ice maker

installed replacement ice maker kit. 1st removed power. next loosened 2 upper phillips screws. then removed lower phillips screw and lifted and removed old ice maker. released wiring connector and pulled entire unit out of freezer. then i reversed the procedure to install the old unit. check youtube for instructional videos.

remove 3 screws,rotate assembly,depress lock on wire harnass connector,un plug harnass.remove old assembly,remove and transfer side cover and steel wire at front of assembly,connect harnass to new assembly,rotate into place,aling screw holes and install 3 screws.flip front steel wire down and wait for about 1 hour,first tray of ice will fall..all done.

As per instructions. Removed parts from old ice maker, and installed them on new one, Then installed it in the freezer. Works good.

Unplugged the power, removed old icemaker by removing 3 screws and unplugging a small wire harness

Then i moved the wire harness off the old one to the new one, moved the end cover over to new one and plugged the harness back in and screwed it back in and turned it on

Instead of the ice maker unclipping from the wall after one 1/4" screw being removed from the bracket, I had to remove three of the 4 Phillips head screws from the ice bucket slider below the ice maker and swivel it down to allow the ice maker bracket to clear. The two 1/4" screws holding the ice maker to the wall at the top had to be removed and then the ice maker could be pulled away from the freezer wall. The rest of the instructions went according to the video and went well.

I looked at a video on YouTube that described how to check if the water inlet valve was working. By using an ohm meter, it indicated the water valve was bad. I could hear the ice maker trying to make ice. I ordered the part; it was shipped that day. The email confirmation also had a video on how to change. I watched and changed it out quickly. The valve is easy to take out by disconnecting the water line and quick disconnect electrical line. (Turn off water and unplug unit). I took pictures of my steps so I could remember the valve orientation. The new valve went in the same way in just 2 minutes. I needed a 1/4 inch nut driver.

We had a full ice tray in 24 hours.

Our freezer door handle popped off and I learned how to put it back by watching a YouTube video.

I am not handy at this type of repair but this was a great experience. Thank you!!

Killed the power to the fridge. Then, used a small, thin screwdriver to depress the clip on the bottom of the switch and wriggled the old switch out. The two wires easily came off the contacts with pliers. Connected the wires to the new switch and snapped it into the hole--clip facing down and contacts facing up. Turned the power back on and checked the switch. Worked perfectly! Easy job.

Unplugged refrigerator,cleaned out freezer.Removed shelves in freezer compartment(that took some figuring to unlock sliding sheves)Our freezer is on the bottom.Removed four screws from back cover to expose fan,removed screws and attached wires.Carefully opened plastic clips after pulling fan off shaft.Replaced old motor after reattaching rubber seals.Closed clips to hold motor and placed fan back on shaft.Reattach wires and screws. Put cover back and replaced shelves.Plugged in refrigerator and wallah refrigerator part was cold again!

Unloaded refrigerator. Pulled refrigerator from wall. Removed bottom panel on back and replaced bolt. Reversed steps but leveled rear wheel before reloading.

Followed Youtube video from Free Repair Help. Only problem was getting down low enough to see the pins on the Compressor to plug the replacement Compressor Start Device and Capacitor-could not replace the old clip to hold the unit to the Compressor like the old unit had. At 77 I just have a problem bending over.

Replacing the icemaker is pretty simple. Three screws, an electrical connector. Hardest part is getting to the icemaker since the freezer is below the refrigerator.

Unplugged the unit took back cover off unplugged start/run cap,plugged new one on,put cover back on,removed freezer drawer, removed back panel in freezer, cut wire to old thermistor, wire capped new one on to existing wire,put back panel on,put freezer drawer back in,plugged unit back in
