FREEZE Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

pluged the wire harness into the new socket from the back and snaped the socket in place.

Pulled the two wires out from the access hole in the lower part of the refrigerator. Put them in the spade connectors on the new switch, and pushed the switch into place.

Wasn't sure what I would find underneath the old gasket, so I went slowly at first, but once the first side was off, the rest of the gasket came off quickly....and the metal track under it was clean and in good condition. After cleaning the areas where the gasket would seal, my daughter and I each started at a corner and placed the gasket into the track. Entire thing done in less than 10 mins. Piece of cake...only issue was a crease in the outer cushion area....I couldn't seem to smooth it with the warm water bath....it may uncrinkle with time...right now it is leaving a very small space when the door shuts. Saved me the expense of a new unit right now...hoping this takes care of the cooling issue I have with the unit keeping fresh veggies fresh.

I removed the gasket starting in one of the corners, until the gasket was completely removed.
I then replaced the gasket with a new one by starting in one of the corners and pressing it on to the track around the door.

Just as your video described, although due to the age of the fridge, it took a bit longer to remove the defective switch. Your video made this so simple, I can't imagine why we lived with a dark fridge for so long! I was ready to buy a whole new fridge, as repairmen are often nonexistent for small repairs. I took all of the creases out of the new gasket with hot water as described on the delivery box. I laid the gasket on the floor and let it cool while I took the refrigerator door off, laid it on a table, and removed the old gasket. I started the new gasket into the groove at one corner and pressed it into place by sliding my thumb along the gasket and seating it as I went. It was an extremely simple task which took about 2 minutes. The most time is consumed in removing and replacing the door

Frig parts had been scavenged in an apartment complex. Restoring socket was only a matter of plugging in two spade contacts and clipping in socket.

Pulled out old drain gromet. Have to be careful not to put drain in motor. Experienced repair person could probably to in 5 minutes; it took my husband about 15 minutes. Did not really need entire drain line; just connection at top.

Using plyers Pulled old switch down and out. Put new one in and pushed new switch up into position. The switch plugs into the contacts, no wiring needed. Worked like a charm. You saved me 200 dollars GE repair bill. Thanks

removed the inside fridge electrical panel and swapped switches

easy pry out, disconnect wiring, connect on new switch and press in switch.

I followed the instructions and had no trouble. The refrigerator now cycles on and off as it should. The iside temp. is much colder and I know there will be a good savings on electricty.

The hardest part was figuring out the part needed from so many little pictures. The actual repair, a piece of cake!

Sears told me the part was no longer available. I came to your web site and then called your customer service. A very nice customer service lady helped me find the part. Very simple to pull the old one off and reinstall the new one with a rat trap behind the unit. Just in case it came back. Could have been a client but probably was a rat. Thanks for the great service.
