RS21011 Hoover Refrigerator - Instructions

Sorry for delay in writing. Part I ordered arrived two days ago and it was exactly what I needed. Knowing that there will be problems even with the smallest job I procrastinated starting. When I did start this morning I foud I had to completely remove the ice maker and disassemble it in order to install the water fill cup bracket. The challenge was reassembling the unit. Not hard for an experienced repairman but a challenge for layman. Everything is thing is back to gether now and power on cooling down the refrigerator. Won't know how successful it was until turn on water and ice is formed. If it works this saved $75 just to get a Sears repairman to come out and tell me what would be needed to fix the refrigerator and $1,000 if I had to buy a new refrigerator. Extremely satisfied with service I received. Thank you.

Did all of work without removing door. Door is approximately 2 1/2" off floor, so shim door with a piece of two by four and wood shims to hold door level while removing bolts. Had mirror lying on floor underneath the hinge to see location of bolts. Removed 3 bolts that hold the metal bracket. After removing the bracket the pin slides out. Then remove another bolt from the door closer, this enables the old closer to be removed. Then replace new closer with one bolt. Slide hinge pin back in place making sure tab is toward refrigerator to line up with hole in metal bracket. Replace metal bracket with bolts. Tools used were 1/4" drive ratchet, 1/4" drive 3" extension and a 1/4" drive 5/16 " socket

This is so easy it's insane: Turn the refrigerator off, you don't neet to unplug it. Remove all shelves and their contents in the refrigerator door, set aside and close the door. Get your handy stepladder, climb it, and remove the top hinge cover with a phillips screwdriver, then remove the 3 hex head screws and lift off the top hinge. The door will not fall off because of the magnetic strip in the door gasket and the fact that you closed it, remember? Get off the ladder and move it out of the way. Open the door while holding it on both sides, and lift it up a bit to clear the bottom hinge pin. An observer is good to have. Remove the lower hinge cover. The door is surprisingly light. Lay the door with the outside side down on a flat surface you have covered with a towel, or shop cloths to keep the door from getting scratched. On the bottom of the door, remove the "Natural Closer" with your nut driver. It sort of looks like a boomerang. Take note of which side of it is up, and which is down, and make sure you replace it just as it came out. Go back to the refrigerator, and lift the hinge pin out of the lower bracket, and replace it with your snazzy new one, again noting how it came out and making sure you put it back the same way. At this point, you may want to apply a slight amount of a food safe lubricant to the contact areas on the hinge pin, and closer. I actually used a sparing amount vegetable oil on a paper towel. Lift he door off the flat surface, and take it back to the refrigerator using both hands one on each side. You will be placing it back on the lower hinge pin, and now your observer can be of great help to tell you when you have the door lined up, and ready to lower on the hinge pin. Keep the door aligned the best you can, and close it. You don't want to ruin the lower hinge pin, or knock the lower bracket out of alignment. The door won't fall off after you close it: remember the magnetic gasket, and how light the door is? Back up the ladder. Replace the top hinge. The door may need some nudging to make sure the screw holes line up-don't pound on it, or it could fall off and ruin the lower hinge pin and its bracket. Have your observer hold the door in place. Replace the 3 screws with your nut driver, replace the hinge cover and secure it with the phillips screw. Check to see that the doors are the same height at the top, and have the same gap between the refrigerator and freezer doors top to bottom. Replace the lower hinge cover. Open the door, and replace the shelves and their contents. Turn the refrigerator back on, stand back and admire your work. Take pictures with your phone, and send texts and pictures to all your friends to show them how much more clever and resourceful you are than they are. On second thought don't do that because you will end up fixing their appliances. Tell them you called an appliance repair tech, and spent $125.00 plus parts and travel time to get the door to close properly. We won't tell anybody you fixed it yourself, it will be our little secret.

I removed three screws from top hinge. Lifted door off bottom hinge and set door on a flat surface. Replaced part and set door back in place. Put screws back and door fit tight again.

I watched the instructional video included with the shipping date e-mail(about 3 minutes long), and simply followed the instructions. It took about 2 days for the refrigirator section to return to normal cool temperature to the level set.

1)pry out the old/defective light rocker switch with a screw driver (flat head) and pull out the cables 2)unplug two connectors at the end of light rocker switch 3) connect new light rocker into two connectors 4)push the wires inside and put back new light rocker switch

I did exactly as the video showed. I popped out the old switch, disconnected the two terminals, connected the new switch and put it back. The light now works! The refrigerator is over 25 years old and the switch works! What a great website this is. Couldn't of done the job without Partselect's help.

Stopped by a local repair shop to buy a crisper glass shelf for my Maytag refrigerator. Maytag does not sell the glass shelf, looked online and saw Repacements Parts.com. Ordered the shelf. Very happy customer!!!

Very easy once we had the pins! The amazing part was how fast we obtained them, how easy the ordering process was, and how vast and easy the selection process. Entering the model number took us right to a diagram of what we needed! The placement of the pins was almost self explanatory by the shape and size, but the diagram would have been very helpful had we needed it. My son replaced the lost pins, re-mounted the doors, and re-connected the water supply in the door in under 15 minutes. Everything works perfectly!

I had ordered some other parts for something entirely different off your website and service was great. So after almost ten years of a dark refrigerator, because of a defective switch, I decided to see if you had the part to fix it... You did and the part got here in 3 days. I had a working light switch and all the light in the world where my husband needed it most (in the fridge). It took me at the most ten minutes to replace the part. All is well now and I have a happy husband who can find the leftovers just fine. Thanks for your great service!

Simply stick a putty knife between the switch and refrig wall. Pop out old swith, remove both wires by pulling off switch by terminals. Throw switch out. Put wires on new switch and push into slot and all done. Nothing to it! Took me 5 minutes if th

We tried repairing with a new switch which was very easy to install but it didn't fix the problem.
