UKKIT5 General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Watched video on website then removed old ice maker. New one went in without any problems. Working great. I am a 60 year old woman and had never done anything like this but so easy. Husband scared now, doesn't know what project I will take on next.

The instruction video was great, mine was easy than even the video showed it to be. I changed it out in less than 15 minutes and it works great. The niocve things I didn't have to wait for a repairman or my husband to fix the problem.

REplaced old icemaker with a new one. Install simple, However that was not the problem. I then replaced the water valve. Still no ice. I check the electric connection was OK. THe problem was the elbow fitting on the top back of the refrigerater leading to the icemaker was blocked with ice.Cleared it and turned water faucet up all the way. Ice maker worked.

I had to defrost the freezer to free the icemaker. After that the installation was plug and play with two small exceptions: 1) I had to file down the width of the left hand tine of the old stripper so that it would fit the new icemaker, and 2) the motor housing of the new icemaker was slightly wider than the old one. It fit, but just barely. But I'm back in the ice again, no dripping water, all is good.

Installing the actual ice maker was quite easy. What takes most of the time is preparing the freezer for the install. Need to remove all shelving, (and the door) to gain access to the unit. The ice maker is simple to install once access is achieved. Putting everything back together takes some time.

Your online instructions were easy to understand and follow. I replaced the outlet valve which took about 20 min. Then I had to dissasemble and remove icemaker to de-ice inlet tube and back wall of frezzer to defrost cooling fins. All to gether it took me about 1hr / 40 min. Frezzer now works just like new. Thanks for making it affordable and easy. Curt

Move unit out to access rear. Unplug unit. Shut off water supply. Remove lower cover with phillips screwdriver. Remove valve and both water lines. Install water lines back into new valve and install valve back into position. Turn on water supply and check for leaks. Install cover. Plug unit back into wall. Let icemaker produce some cubes to make sure everything is working correctly before pushing unit back into position. Very easy!

I monitored the ice maker after it stopped working and noticed it was not filling with water. I loosened the water feed hose to the single valve outlet and the water feed was fine. However, the single valve outlet never activated to turn on the water feed. I disconnected the waterfeed and electrical connection from the single valve outlet and removed it. Replaced it with the new one, reconnected the water feed valve and electrical connection....allowed the ice maker to cycle and it started filling the ice maker with water right away. I read the step by step instructions that came with the part. I turned two screws and disconnected the electrical harness and Removed the icemaker. Two other parts from the old icemaker were easily removed without any tools and put on the new icemaker. The new icemaker was put in the same way the old one came out. I reconnected the electrical harness and tightened the old screws. The hardest part of the whole job was reading the directions. They were easy to follow if you take the time to Just read them!

Changed out the valve the water line hooks to in back of fridge and bingo that was the problem , less them 10 min job.

Replacement of the single outlet valve kit went very well. But, water was still not dispensing. I checked if the valve was working by taking the following steps after installing the new valve: unplugging the refrigerator, disconnecting the water line from the underside of the new valve (line to the ice maker), putting a container under the valve to potentially catch water, plugging the refrigerator back in to start the cycle of the ice maker (remember that the cycle will start only if the temperature cold enough). I saw that the valve worked by dispensing water for a short period of time into the container. Taking my chances (with my limited experience), I disassembled the ice maker in the freezer and found that the water line was plugged with ice. So, I really didn't need to replace the valve after all. But, I'm glad I gained some experience.

Quite easy. Turn off water supply and turn off ice maker at switch inside freezer. Unscrew the old unit, separate the electrical connection, and pull it out. New unit comes with parts that do not fit my refrigerator, so visually examine the new and old units, reuse any needed parts from the old unit, such as plastic water ramp. Reconnect the electrical connector, and screw it back in. Turn water supply back on and then turn ice maker back on at switch inside freezer. Discard unused parts. Wait up to 24 hours for new ice cubes to be made.

Took out the old, replaced with the new. Needed second person to hold the flash light. That is the secret to get it plugged in and secured.

I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.
