MSG22GABKWW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

First issue, I tried to get the top hinge cover off by gently prying. No go. Went to get a step stool and discovered a small screw holding the plastic cover on. At least I didn't break it by prying. I then removed the two top hinge bolts and removed top hinge. I then lifted the door off the bottom hinge.

I then removed the bottom hinge (two bolts) and replaced it with the new hinge with the attached lift cam. (Bottom half of cam)

I then removed the broken lift cam from the bottom of the door, replacing it with the door closing cam included in the hinge assembly package.

Second issue: I did not need to order the DOOR closing cam as a separte item as it came with the hinge assembly package. (There was a warning note in the hinge assembly package to use the door cam included, as new materials had been used and abnormal wear could occure if you didn't replace both pieces of the lift cam)

I set the door back on the bottom hinge, replaced the top hinge and tested. The door would NOT close on it's own. Getting down on my belly I could see resistance of the door light switch was keeping the door from closing. The fix of this issue was to load the door with the normal use items. This provided enough weight to the door and offset the resistance of the switch. EVERY THING WORKED GREAT. Time was 26 minutes from start to finish.

It was really easy for me....my son told me what part I needed. I ordered it, and he installed it!

Removed top hinge assembly to pull door away from bottom hinge (2x hex bolts) Discovered that the pin on the bottom assembly had broken off. Removed and replaced bottom hinge assembly (2x hex bolts). Aligned door with top and bottom hinge pins. Tightened all hex bolts. Done

I can not find the bill therefore I do not know what part I installed, as I keep installing parts in my home. I believe you are referring to a Vegetable Bin of my GE Refrigerator and you do not have to be a rocket scientist to install a new one.

I followed the many post on replacing this part and everything went well. I had a little trouble getting the hinge post into the new hinge assembly, but with a slight adjustment it fell into place. I checked to see what tools I would need to do the job and had them ready before I even started. I removed the door and had it back on in maybe 10 minutes and I am not exactly Mr. Fix It. The only advice I can add to what everyone else has said is you should look the job over a little before you take the door off and have your tools ready. Then you won't have the door off for too long. I'd like to thank this site and everyone who gave advice on how to fix this problem. It made the whole job very easy.

This is a side-by-side unit. After blocking up the closed refrigerator door to the correct height to match the freezer door, I removed the lower hinge pin assembly by taking out two bolts. Save the shims (my had two) for the new hinge pin. Then remove the cam riser from the bottom of the door by taking out two bolts. Install the new cam riser on the bottom on the door. Then install the new hinge pin assembly. Total time 15 minutes.

Per you video. Without it I would have probably taken a lot longer that necessary. You will never know how much I appreciate your including the video. What customer service. Outstanding.

ordered new parts , came in 2 days and just made the repairs today and took only about 15 min total time all the parts fit right on and the only problem was holding the door and stting it on the lower rod, But my wife helped on the lower end. all in all it went great. This is a side by side freezer/refrigerator, nearly 30 years old. The repair was very quick and easy. 1. Remove two screws from top bracket. There is no cover for the top hinge on this older model. (2) Lift off door and set on kitchen table. (3) Remove two screws holding bottom door hinge. (4) remove two screws hold the cam and shims on the bottom of the door. (5) replace the broken cam on the door, and the bottom hinge assembly. (6) Replace the door on the bottom hinge. (7) Re-attach the top hinge screws, making sure the door is parallel to the freezer door. It took about 10 minutes to do all of the above. Best yet, I ordered the kit about 10am on a Monday, and the parts arrived, normal delivery, before noon the next day.PS- I used petroleum jelly to grease the hinge before replacing the door. The only tool I needed was a nutdriver.

I followed the link to the how-to video that was provided on the parts-page, watched it and then followed the recommended steps. It couldn't have been easier -- and I'm not a "handyman." Thanks to PartSelect, I was able to diagnose the problem, find the part that was needed and figure out how to install it. I'm a grateful customer.

I did exactly as the video instructed. Removed the top hinge bracket. Removed the door. Replaced the parts on both the door and the freezer, taking care to save and re-install the shims. I put the door back in place and installed the top hinge. I also lubed the hinge pins with very light grease. The door now works perfectly.

I followed thevideo. It was very straight forward.

MY issue was a old worn out hinge cam on the right side door of our 1993 GE Profile Refrigerator. My repair went great- exactly as depicted in the PartSelect You Tube video: 'Refrigerator Repair- Replacing the Hinge Cam Riser (GE Part # WR02X10140)' Excellent video! Having the PartSelect on line video demo gave me confidence to buy the part and "just do it" to make the replacement. Watching the video confirmed my own assessment of the (very simple) repair procedure, and eliminated my wife's fear that I would remove the 19 yr old refrigerator door and then not be able to put the door back in place! I ordered two WR02X10140 hinge cam parts so I would have a spare. I know we need a new more energy efficient refrigerator, but our GE Profile is still fine for our family. This hinge cam replacement will give my wife more time to make a well researched decision on our next refrigerator purchase! You made me a 'home hero husband'. Great job- Thanks!!!
