Ice maker wasn't working
Watched video on website then removed old ice maker. New one went in without any problems. Working great. I am a 60 year old woman and had never done anything like this but so easy. Husband scared now, doesn't know what project I will take on next.

No Ice
REplaced old icemaker with a new one. Install simple, However that was not the problem. I then replaced the water valve. Still no ice. I check the electric connection was OK. THe problem was the elbow fitting on the top back of the refrigerater leading to the icemaker was blocked with ice.Cleared it and turned water faucet up all the way. Ice maker worked.

The door recess asm would not seal tightly
remove the 'pop-out " frame around the door recess, you pry the flexable seal from around the ice despenser, have someone hold the unit with the wiring, remove the one screw that holds the door recess, and replace the new one. reverse the procedure. remember to unplug thr frig. first

Freezer dripping water into refrigerator
Part 2 (screws): I let the refrigerator warm to room temp overnight. I took off the freezer shelf brackets and light, and then the bottom of the freezer compartment using a dime to pry it up (tricky). I poured water into the drain under the coil and it drained very slowly. OK, the drain line's plugged somewhere and it's not ice. I took off the back cardboard compressor cover, unbolted and pulled out the fan, and saw the drain tube in the drain pan. There's a little hole cut in the side of the tube. I took a 6 ft length of plastic trimmer line from a lawn edger/trimmer and ran it through the hole and all the way up the drain line. Water started draining out! I jiggled the line around some to make sure it was clear, then I replaced everything the way it came apart. The white painted freezer screws had lost their paint since this was the third time in 4 years the freezer had been dismantled before diagnosing the plugged drain line. The first time this happened, (at age 10 years (not me-the refrigerator)) I called a repairman who said I should just replace the refrigerator since this brand was no good. He was wrong - he just didn't know how to fix it and now it's working fine (plus he lost one of the screws). I really like my now 14 year-old GE Profile refrigerator and I'd buy another (plus it was made in the USA!!) Second time, I took it apart myself and failed to notice the drain was partially plugged with something (I assumed it was frozen). Part 1 (slide cover): The other repair was the right bottom shelf bracket got broken somehow. The replacement bracket from PartSelect was identical to the original and the repair was easy, except it took me a while to remember how it went together. Thanks and I hope you like my trimmer line ldea. Support our economy - buy American!! Thanks PartSelect. Signed GR in Corpus Christi, TX.

Frost on inside of freezer.
Since my refrig is 18 yrs. old and I never had to replace it, took a little long to remove trim piece on the outside. After that repair went smoothly. I still have problem with water collecting inside on the bottom of the freezer, might have a leak somewhere. Ice maker is functioning correctly.

flapper was locking open periodically.
Replaced flapper, which was in surprisingly good condition. Major part of repair was removing a lot of mold incurred from long term seepage of room air into the ice channel. In the process of the repair, I discovered that the solenoid to the right of the flapper was hanging up badly. I removed it and cleaned both the plunger and the interior cone of the solenoid with alcohol. This removed quite a bit of rust and some mold. Reinstalled solenoid, replaced flapper and it works just fine. May need to replace solenoid if problem recurs. Certainly worth $37.00!

Ice dispenser had a transistor failure on the control board
The solenoid in the dispenser was overheated due to the control board failure. After I rerplaced the board I found the heat had distorted the plastic crank and jammed the solenoid action. The plastic crank was easy to replace. Now after expending approx. $75 everything works normally!

Broken ice maker replacement
Installing the actual ice maker was quite easy. What takes most of the time is preparing the freezer for the install. Need to remove all shelving, (and the door) to gain access to the unit. The ice maker is simple to install once access is achieved. Putting everything back together takes some time.

Icemaker leaking water
I had to defrost the freezer to free the icemaker. After that the installation was plug and play with two small exceptions: 1) I had to file down the width of the left hand tine of the old stripper so that it would fit the new icemaker, and 2) the motor housing of the new icemaker was slightly wider than the old one. It fit, but just barely. But I'm back in the ice again, no dripping water, all is good.

Frost in ice dispensor
Had to take front panel off dispenser area. Then remove components and install new part. That was easy part. Problem was getting components back into front of freezer. Seemed like something was blocking it from going all the way in. Had to remove small amount of insulation and "jiggle" components and eventually fell into place.

Plastic part of icemaker broke
I watched the video and then read the instructions. Emptied and cleaned freezer compartment. Removed old unit and removed part of old unit to be used in new installation. I then installed the new unit and turned the water back on. I let the unit produce over night and through the first batch of ice away. Because of the various regrigerators this ice maker was used I had a little confusion recognizing our model, but worked through this problem useing some common sense. All around I'm very satisfied with the results.

Ice maker not making ice and leaking
I took off the front cover of the icemaker assembly and found that the gears were not meshing properly and therefore slipping. I removed the front panel and found that the white plastic cam unit under the large gear wheel had disengaged from the hole in the front plate which is why the gears were slipping. I refitted the cam and wheel and it worked fine but stopped again for the same reason the next day. As the plate appeared to be buckled somehow (not user repairable) and, as the unit was leaking and pooling water (which froze) in the collection unit, I decided to change the whole icemaker.
Ordered about 1300 on a Thursday, it arrived the next day at noon and was fitted straight away. As others have mentioned, the extension cable required to fit into my old fridge made it quite cumbersome however with a bit of juggling and persuasion, I got it to fit into the cut out corner of the ice container so it is completely out of the way. Job done in about 35 minutes, making ice in an hour.
