turn off water. turn off electricity. empty freezer section of frozen food. remove ice bucket. loosen two screws holding IM to wall of refrigerator. lift off icemaker, and then unplug it as you remove it. INSTALL new IM by: putting new water funnel onto new IM. attaching adapter cord to IM. plug in IM electrical cord to refrigerator and then hang the new IM onto the two loosened screws on the refrig wall. Now tighten the two screws. the extra adapter electrical cord hangs below the new IM, but does not get in the way when you reinstall old ice bucket. reload food, turn on elec and water. PS. i had a crack in the casing of the new IM, so i got a new one, but that one was cracked too. so i just installed the second cracked one. hope it is not a problem.

The instruction video was great, mine was easy than even the video showed it to be. I changed it out in less than 15 minutes and it works great. The niocve things I didn't have to wait for a repairman or my husband to fix the problem.

REplaced old icemaker with a new one. Install simple, However that was not the problem. I then replaced the water valve. Still no ice. I check the electric connection was OK. THe problem was the elbow fitting on the top back of the refrigerater leading to the icemaker was blocked with ice.Cleared it and turned water faucet up all the way. Ice maker worked.

Watched video on website then removed old ice maker. New one went in without any problems. Working great. I am a 60 year old woman and had never done anything like this but so easy. Husband scared now, doesn't know what project I will take on next.

Placed the glass shelf in the new shelf frame and the frame in the refrigerator.

I was unable to positively identify the replacement shelf frame on the GE web site. Part Select's exploded view made it a piece of cake!

install icemaker water was allways delivered to previous unit water is not being delivered to icemaker still having difficulty

I had to defrost the freezer to free the icemaker. After that the installation was plug and play with two small exceptions: 1) I had to file down the width of the left hand tine of the old stripper so that it would fit the new icemaker, and 2) the motor housing of the new icemaker was slightly wider than the old one. It fit, but just barely. But I'm back in the ice again, no dripping water, all is good.

Installing the actual ice maker was quite easy. What takes most of the time is preparing the freezer for the install. Need to remove all shelving, (and the door) to gain access to the unit. The ice maker is simple to install once access is achieved. Putting everything back together takes some time.

I unplugged my fridge. Took out food and shelves. Unscrewed 3 top screws and two nuts to remove back panel. Started at the bottom and unscrewed 2 screws , took out heater then unscrewed the 2 screws on the top one and took it out. I used a blow dryer to defrost all of the ice on the coils. I put the new one in , bottom first, then tucked the wires, and then installed the top one. I unclasped the old thermostat on the silver coil/pipe and clamped the new thermostat on. Then I unplugged the wires from the old unit and plugged in the wires from the new one and put the hanging wires in the plastic clip at the top of the unit to keep them off the coils. I put the back panel back on, put the screws and nuts in, put shelves and food back in , and I was finished. It's working great now!!!

I had a frig several years ago do the same thing -- freezer coils icing up and temperature warm. I had watched the repairman come in and take the back off the freezer and install some part, I knew not what. So I got on YouTube and four this website with instructions and directions of how the put the part in and which part it was. I am good at trouble shooting and was very comfortable after watching the video of what to order. I ordered the part. The instructions were clear. After the coils had thawed, it took less than 30 minutes to install the new part. I installed a Defrost Heater. My refrigerator has worked ever since. I am not a mechanic nor a fixer upper. I am a 60 year old female school teacher.

Went well. Changed the Ice Maker and then the Water Valve. All good and it is making ice.

Unplug the unit. Remove the food from the freezer. The following three items must be removed to access the panel in the back of the freezer. 1. Remove the shelves below the ice maker. 2. Lift up the plastic shield over the light to remove and then 3. Unscrew the light bulb. Using the 1/4 in nutdriver, remove the two hex screws at the top of the panel. Carefully slide it up and out past the shelf brackets. Below the cooling coils, identify the defrost heater. Using the phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws, one on the left and one on the right. Carefully manipulate the heater to pull down and remove the slip-on electrical connections at either end. Reversing the procedure, install the new defrost heater slipping on each of the electrical connections and then screwing in the two screws. Be sure to position the wires they were originally to avoid interference when reinstalling the panel. Slip the panel in place behind the shelf brackets and align the holes. Insert and tighten the hex screws. Screw in the lightbulb and replace the plastic light cover. Replace the shelves. Return your food and plug the unit back in. Done!

I replaced the Defrost Timer & Defrost Thermostat previously only to find that the freezer was still freezing up. It was obvious that the Defrost heater was bad and I ordered it. I had ignored Parts Select reccommendations on my first order otherwise it would have been less than 30 minutes to complete all of the repairs. It took longer to defrost the freezer coils than the actual repairs took. I followed the published installation from Parts Select and now my 10 year old side by side is working like a new appliance. First Unplug! then Removed shelves light bulb in freezer removed back panel and themostat right on top pulled off cut wires and butted up to new wires then puched clip back on and replaced everything. Works like a charm now. just as though it was a new one.
