Freezer Door Not Closing Completely
After reading other posted comments,I ordered a new hinge assembly set ps290199. My helper and I removed the door and laid it on the kitchen table. While he replaced the hinge on the refigator,I replaced the cam on the door bottom. We re-hung the door and completed the job in 15 minutes with the door closing like it did when new.

You may be thinking that I'm not much for words - but this was SO EASY that it doesn't warrant using more words than I did.

My 7-year-old son helped me - it was a fun father-son project.

Door wouldn't automatically close, dropped a bit
First removed plastic cover off top hinge with phillips screwdriver. Used nut driver to loosened screws on upper hinge to 1/2 inch out and then used wood blocks to shim up door as high as possible while still in closed position. Used socket wrench to remove lower hinge and fitting from bottom of door, while still closed. Installed new lower hinge and door fitting with socket wrench. Lowererd door to sit on bottom hinge and then adjusted position of top hinge before tightened those screws with nut driver. Reinstalled plastic cover. Piece of cake!

Door would not close
I was by myself so I took the entire Fridge door off. Took off the old hinge assembly and installed the new hinge assembly. The process took about 10 minutes and worked like a charm. Door closes like it did 15 years ago.

Door would not automaticly close - plastic cam broken
First, I loosened the top hindge bolts about halfway. Then, I took the bolts out ofthe door and then took the door off. Next I took the bottom hindge off and put the new part on. Then, reassembled the door in reverse. However, I didn't tighten the hindges until I made sure to align the door to close properly.

The rails holding the vegetable drawer were broken
It was a trivial repair job -- just removed the Philips-head screws holding in the broken rails, and screwed in the new ones. (I also took the opportunity to scrub the bottom walls and floor of the fridge.) I'm just glad that PartSelect had the parts available, and that it was so easy to locate them!

Bottom door hinge replacement
Part Number: PS290199

1. Empty the door shelves.
2. Leave the door closed.
3. Remove the grill directly beneath the doors.
a. It snaps in. Pull simultaneously on the outside edge and the bottom about 2 inches in from the outside edge.
4. Using two people. One holding up on the bottom of the door. The other removes the two screws that hold the hinge to the refrigerator.
5. Open the door slowly and let it down slowly to pull the door away from the top hinge.
6. Replace the new hinge half on the bottom of the door. Insert the other half of the hinge into the hole of the door to keep the other half lined up while tightening the screws.
7. Apply a small amount of lithium grease to the contact surfaces of the new hinge.
8. Using two people. One person is to hold the door. Best if he/she holds it from the bottom. The second person lines up the top while pushing up on the door to insert to the top hinge.
9. Insert the other half of the new hinge into the bottom of the door.
10. Line up the holes and insert the two screws that hold the bottom hinge to the refrigerator.

Bad switch for door prevented interior light from coming on
Just as your video described, although due to the age of the fridge, it took a bit longer to remove the defective switch. Your video made this so simple, I can't imagine why we lived with a dark fridge for so long! I was ready to buy a whole new fridge, as repairmen are often nonexistent for small repairs. I am the biggest fan of your company & it's repair video. THANK YOU SO MUCH
