PSA22MIMDFBB General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

The repair did not go exactly the way it was described in the YouTube video, but basically it was similar. After unplugging the power cord, emptying the freezer, removing the shelves and the ice reservoir, I removed the ice maker assembly by unscrewing a Philips head screw and unplugging the power connector. The connector had little retaining tabs on each side that I pried open with a straight blade screwdriver. Then the ice maker lifted right out. Next I removed one screw holding the auger motor assembly, unplugged the power connector, and lifted out the assembly. This where things got difficult. After flailing around a bit, I removed the panel on the back wall of the freezer below the evaporator fan assembly, exposing the evaporator coil. I saw that the fan assembly was attached with two screws at the top and two screws at the bottom. The top screws were easily removed, but when I removed the bottom screws, which were situated in very tight quarters, I DROPPED BOTH SCREWS DOWN BEHIND THE EVAPORATOR COIL. Be prepared with a magnetic nutdriver so this doesn't happen to you. I could not retrieve the lost screws, but fortunately it appears that the top screws hold the assembly securely enough. The assembly was loose, but it was still attached by a power cord that I could not disconnect. I removed the tracks on the side walls for the ice bucket, and then I could maneuver the fan motor assembly just enough that I could reach over the top of it, grab and pull off the old fan blade, and slide the new fan blade onto the shaft. Reassembly was straightforward, replacing each part (except two lost screws) in reverse order to disassembly. After getting everything put back in and plugging in the power cord, I was amazed at how quiet it ran.

Got the part from you and I might add it came in about 3 days maybe 2 (wow).Got on the internet on how to utube and the sight had a video on how to that was awesome. So with you clear intruction on the part number and speedy service the whinng noise is a thing of the past.

I followed the video supplied at the part selection site. If you follow the video the repair will be easy.

The old switch was hard to remove. Thinking that I may have to loosen the wires I used a socket wrench to remove a clamp. This was unnecessary. In the end the switch did come out using a large size screwdriver. The problem was that the expanding plastic tongue is not visible from the ouside so you have to try to feel your way around. If i had ordered the replacement before and not afterwards I would have seen this before hand.

After replacing the light bulb and still no light I manually pushed the light switch button. Intermittently the light would come on then go out. I removed the power plug from the power source then replaced the light switch. I plugged the refrigerator back in and now I open the door the light comes on and stays on until the door is closed.

I took the ice drawer out and turned it upside down. Then removed two philips screws holding the drawer front on. Then with a small straight edge screwdriver pry out the sides to release the locking tabs and remove the auger and crusher assembly. Then on the end of the auger remove the e-clip, slide the auger out and remove the broken part of the crusher dispenser and replace with new. Easier than it sounds. Parts Select was great to deal with. Had my parts in two days.

removed the ice, auger, bin assembly and slowly examined it and began disassembly until i found the broken part and then removed them .. i went online and found the parts almost instantly the parts came in 2 days , the repair video,s were most helpful so much so that i decided to replace the ice chute, door solenoid which looked difficult until i watched the repair video and read other peoples feed back well good luck ! Remove tray assembly and dump ice. Remove two Phillips screws from bottom near front. Disengage latches at top near front, and remove front cover.

There is a long, spring-loaded rod on the bottom, whose position determines whether the ice is cubed or crushed. Remove one Phillips screw and disengage the rod from the crusher assembly. Be careful not to bend the rod, and be sure to reassemble it after the auger has been replaced.

Use pliers to remove nut from front of auger. It has left threads, and no flats for a wrench. Remove snap washer from end of auger with flat screwdriver, and remove large washer. Then you have to disassemble the crusher and phenoodle the auger out of the plastic housing. Be very careful to lay out all the parts, so you can remember how they go back. Also, note how the clear plastic back cover for the crusher is positioned. You can't put it back wrong, but it can confuse you if you don't remember how it was assembled.

Reverse the process to put it all back together. It works just fine.

There are three holes under the front panel in which you push a very small screwdriver in and the front panel comes off.In back of the panel is another panel with 4 screws .1 at each corner.Remove the 4 screws and that will come off exposing the working parts that need to be replaced.This is also a good time to clean anything you can get to in that area.It is very important to remember how everything came out.

Removed back wall cover over coil. Defrost all ice with a hair dryer. Cut white wires and replaced Temperature Sensor. It has been working for a week and no trouble at this time. If you have this system on your GE refrigerator do this before replacing the motherboard. I must admit I was thinking that was the trouble. Motherboard was replaced after 5 years old now 5 years later my thinking is this a 5 year problem. So try the Temperature Sensor.

Remove the broken bucket and install the new one

1 opened door 2. pryed cover off from cieling 3.cut and stripped wires on 4. sodered wires from old wires to new sensor. 5 insulated conection.6 put cover back on. This did not fix the problem it was the control moduel.

I remove the drawer and waited for it to come up to room temp. One screw was removed from the top front sheild so it could be removed. The housing for the front of the auger also contains the ice crusher. This unit snaps into place after removing two screws from the bottom. Caution was used during removeal so the shaft for the ice crusher engage was out of the way. Once completely unsnapped the front of the auger is exposed. A lock nut with reverse threads is removed and the ice crusher blades and spacers are removed. Remember the position of the blades and spacers for reassembly. Reverse the order for reassembly. Caution when snapping the front assembly back in place to ensure the ice crusher engagement shaft is seated properly. Easy repair.
