GTE18GTNDRCC General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed all the freezer inside panels to inspect the motor before I ordered the part. It looked like a relatively easy job to change it. I also watched the really nice video on the website that re-inforced my confidence in doing the job. The part came in a few days. I disassembled the freezer interior exactly as the video showed.(Warning: be careful with the styrofoam piece if the fridge is not fully defrosted. The ice build-up could cause it to break when trying to pull it out!)The only problem I had was getting the little collar on and off the motor fan shaft, and getting the fan off the shaft. I had to pull really hard for it to come loose and then I had to push really hard to get it back on the new motor shaft. I didn't know if could have used any kind of lubricant or not, so I didn't. After that the re-assembly inside the freezer went well, being careful to put everything back in the correct order and position. Started the fridge back up and it has been running very quietly ever since. But, most important, my wife was impressed with my work and is very pleased with the result!

I replaced the noisy evaporator fan motor after watching the video provided. All went well and now I have a much quieter refrigerator. I took apart the old evaporator motor to see why it rattled when moved and it had an electrical part that came undone and was the cause of the obnoxious noise that came from the refrigerator. Now, my wife and I can sleep better now that the noisy fan was replaced.

I followed the instructions in the video. The decorative parts were slightly different than in the video, such as screws at the top versus the bottom, but all of the working parts were the same. I was somewhat hesitant about applying pressure to remove the locking spring and fan blades and to replace them but the video reassured me and all went well. The refrigerator is operating as quietly as when it was brand new.

Bought the part and did it. Super easy with any kind of mechanical ability. It took 18 minutes from start to finish, I think it took longer to clean out the freezer section and restock it, than the actual job did.

The is my 'refreshment' cooler and sits in our garage. Hotter than heck in the summer so the things runs a lot. Started making a little growling noise. Had to partially disassemble the back panel to get to the fan. Touched the exposed shaft for a second and the sound stopped. OK, it's the fan. Went on line, used the (really great) exploded diagram to figure out what I needed. A couple days later the parts show up. Installed the new fan blade and retainer Removed the old motor (couple of mounting screws), connected the new motor (a plug in) and mounted the new motor making sure the grommet on the front and back were engaged. Turned the unit on and everything worked. Reinstalled the foam channel, the back panel and it ran perfectly. Great support (the diagram), fast delivery and fair pricing. Not bad!

Replaced light switch. Defrost cycle remains suspect but refrigerator has worked OK for about 10 days.

Things fall out of my refrigerator frequently thus the broken lite switch. Thought tape would solve until new part arrived. Thank goodness part came the next day as even with tape on and door close and light bulbs removed fridge read door as open and would not cool It is programmed not to run with door open. Within 24 hours part was delivered, unbelievable . It was that fast. Easy insertion and plugged in to the wiring and my refridge once more recognized the door was shut and began cooling. Ordered the part and within three working days the part was delivered. It took two minutes to pry off the broken part and one minute to snap in the new one.

It really was as simple as the other folks noted. Slid a screwdriver into the edge of the broken switch and it popped right out. Disconnected and reconnected each of the two wires and just slid the switch back into the slot. Truly a DIY fix.

Part came in a couple of days, very fast delivery. Read how other people installed. Only drawback was the youtube video was not available. Thanks again!

Watched video repair by Hotpoint , Everything went like clockwork and was a total success. Repair took exactly 25 minutes.

Pried the switch on the bottom with a flathead screwdriver, twisted it and the switch came out far enough to take it out by hand. The bottom of the switch has to be raised upward a little because the connectors are on top of the switch. Changed the wires from the old switch to the new one, one at a time. Insert the new switch. Saved a repair call, and probably a more expensive switch. Less then 15 minutes.
