Piece of cake and now I get loads of ice.

unscrew one screw unplug.insert the ice maker,put the screw back in you have ice less than ten minutes

Ice maker was side mount instead of rear mount as shown in previous insructions. Removed one screw and slide ice maker forward. used flat head screw driver to undo the ice maker plug. The ice maker came right out. Removed old ice maker fill cup and put it on the new ice maker. Slide the new ice maker into place and used the same screw to secure it. Pluged it in and turned on the ice maker. Had new ice in a couple of hours. It comes with a round plug to square plug adapter, new fill cup and fill tube, all of which I didn't use.

Only needed to remove one screw, slide unit out and disconnect the power cord. Theb reverse the above operation to install the replace ice maker unit. Quick and extremely easy....

i watched the free video and then made the switch my ice screw had 4 bolts instead of three that was the only difference used the screw driver to loosen the straps on the connection plug and that was it easy as pie in about 30 minutes i heard it drop a load of ice it beats filling ice trays all the time thank you partselect for the free video it was the difference in my sucess

Took out the old, replaced with the new. Needed second person to hold the flash light. That is the secret to get it plugged in and secured.

The video on the GE site was great. Showed step by step instructions on how to remove the old ice maker and install the new one. Also helpful was the detail on the water chute which needed to be moved from the old ice make to the new one. Saved hundreds of dollars by not having to have a repairman do this work for me.

I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.

I'm a housewife in her late 40's. Before ordering the part, I watched your video on how to remove and install the new icemaker. First I unplugged the refrigerator. After a few minutes, I unplugged the icemaker and unscrewed it. I lifted it a bit and removed it. I did not use the icecup that comes with the part. Instead I removed the one from the old part and inserted it to the new one. Then I plugged in the new icemaker, placed it inside so as to match the holes and screwed it in. YES, it was that simple. It took me less than 10 minutes to do this. I saved myself over $100!!

Unplugged refrigerator. Removed relay by unclipping wire and pulling relay off compressor. Looked-up part number and ordered part. Replaced part and plugged in refrigerator.

I spent 15 - 20 minutes just hunting/deciding which of several sets of parts & directions to follow. The provided directions were not bad; but none of them quite matched my GE ADORA side-by-side model. Once I came up with the actions I would need to take...I was done in 5 minutes! The kit , as I said, came with all the parts one could need (and one or two un-needed parts included for other model GE refrigerators) I am very happy with PART SELECT...altough GE doesn't rate as high with me for their declining reliability.

Water was leaking on the floor from under the fridge and I noticed that the cubes were very small and the ice maker was taking much too long to make ice. After pulling the fridge out from the wall, I removed the bottom back plate (about 7 screws) and checked the ice maker refill tube that goes from the inlet valve at the bottom of the fridge (left side) into the ice maker at the top right side of the fridge. The 1/4" tube had split 2 " from the inlet valve where it makes a sharp "U" turn on its' way up to the ice maker. I turned off the ice maker by raising the handle on the ice maker and turning off the 1/2" supply tube from the house supply pipe. I then tried splicing the tube by cutting it at the split and installing a 1/4" barbed splice on the two ends, but could not get a water tight connection. I then decided to order a new refill tube from Parts Select. The part arrived in 1 day (FANTASTIC SERVICE) and I installed it in about 10 minutes with no problem. (GE was out of stock on this part.) To begin, I disconnected the old tube at the water inlet valve (just push in the quick connect and then pull out) and proceeded to disconnect the other end at the top of the fridge where the ice maker is located. The molded end is adhered to the back with a sticky adhesive and must be scraped off with a putty knife before it can be pulled out. Once this is done, the new refill tube goes in the exact same way. One caution- just be sure to test and adjust the length of the white supply tube (I had to lengthen it by 1 ") before peeling the protective paper off the adhesive. It must be long enough to reach the white plastic cup that fills the ice maker. The inlet valve end of the 1/4" tube at the bottom just pushed into the quick connect connection. I then turned the ice maker back on inside the fridge by lowering the handle and also turned the house supply valve back on. I waited for the ice maker to call for water and then checked for leaks. NO LEAKS- job done!

Super easy, had my 15 year old do it (with my supervision).
Followed very clear Instructions that come with the replacement...
But, he could not get to the plug location until he removed 4 screws holding the motor assembly that spins the ice in the drawer and moved it out of the way...
Followed the rest of the instructions...
Works like a charm.

Watched the video that showed how to disassemble the ice maker. Then went right in and replaced the part and turned it on. It immediately started filling up the ice tray. I still have not been able to find out why it does not make as fast as the original ice maker. The tempeature for the freezer is set pretty cold.

Took out one hex screw, disconnect electric couplings, pulled original ice maker out and found that the water supply line to the ice maker was frozen solid as well as the shute cup. Used hair dryer to thaw out the line and the cup reinstaled old ice maker and it worked fine. Did not have to use the new part at all at this time. Am keeping new part for future use.
