FRS26ZRGB2 Frigidaire Refrigerator - Instructions

Remove ice pan below ice maker. Got mirrow verifed the type of screws. Obtained nut driver and felt it at right angle remove screws only have way. The ice maker lifts up and off. Took needle nose pliers to grip and remove electrical connection plug. The instruction and picture sent was no help the picture were the size of a thumb nail no detail could be determine. I installed the adapter plug and all the extra length wiring was the most difficult to type wrap with both hands extended out in front. I finally wrestled it in on to the two screws unscrewed from the wall about 1/2". Keep the ice maker water lever up and ensure it aligns to the water trough inlet. Works Great.

First I unplugged the appliance for safety,then I proceeded to remove the sheetmetal from inside, the freezer compartment, this is where the evaporator is located and where you will find the defrost limit switch or thermostat same thing. also the defrost heater is located here as well. I made note of what plugged into what and what the colors of the wires are for future use. You also need to check the defrost timer which on this unit, it is located in the very front lower left coner of the appliance. Once I received the parts I put things back together in the reverse order, plugged in the appliance and so far so good the refrigerator is cold now.There are a lot of repair manuels out there that will help you repair your appliances and save yourself a lot of money. You just have to be willing to do it yourself.

I replaced the water pressure valve, unplugged the power , turned the water off, took off the back cover, loosened the screws holding the valve on , disconnected the water lines, and replaced with the new valve and reassembled water lines and remounted valve, done.

Had to disassemble the entire ice maker bucket. Simple and straightforward, didn't need any pictures or reference materials. Just time consuming.

Checked for continuity in heater, defrost thermostat and defrost timer. Heater good; not sure about thermostat or timer. Replaced thermostat - no change. Replaced timer - rotating and heater working.

I took everything out of the freezer. Removed All the shelves, took the front off of the evaporator coil compartment. Then I defrosted the evaporator coils with a blow dryer because they were basically a solid block of ice. Then removed the heater coil, installed a new one. Installed a new defrost thermostat. Put the evaporator coil panel back on. Then I turned the thermostat back up to where the fan came on and I noticed it took a few times for the compressor to continue to run. I don’t know what that was all about but eventually the compressor kicked in and everything worked like it should.

Jonnine's husband did the repair - At first, I was stumped on the cause of the problem because I thought because I did get some ice, the pump (valve) must be working. But after pulling the dust cover back off the bottom of the fridge, I removed the dual valve. I had my wife operate the switch in the door for water and I could tell that it wasn't activating the valve at all. Ordered the valve, took 30-45 minutes to put it on. Worked like a charm. Full ice bucket now and water through the door again. Easy install.

Changed the defrost timer and the Thermostat. Still did not fix the problem. Replaced the defrost heater and now it's cooling just like new.

The repair was fast and easy .I removed the ice tray , disconnected the wiring connector and lossend two screws. I removed ice maker assy.and repeated in reverse order to install. I also installed a new water filter. I had ice in about 20 minutes.

removed all items from frig.. removed shelves, loosened one screw on each slide bracket and moved them down and out of the way of the rear panel....removed 6 screws in rear panel...removed all ice on coils with a heat gun...located defrost stat, replaced...crimped wires...re-installed rear panel and shelves! On left side of frig. in front bottom..located defrost timer..removed trim piece, loosened 2 screws....removed and replaced defrost timer...plugged in the frig. and it started!!!!

Had to reach right hand to top of ice maker to locate hex head screws by feel, then place nut driver onto hex head by feel and then unloosen screws with lft hand ,a couple of turns, enough to lift ice maker off screws.
Replace new icemaker onto screws and tighten screws. The only problem incountered was the location and availability of having to feel with both hands to fit nut driver onto the screws.(could not see with my eyes because front of ice maker blocked view. )

Real simple repair..just backed off the two 1/4" hex bolts holding the ice maker to the wall of the fridge,(a little tricky since you can't see them),unclipped the electrical doo hickey. I re-clipped the electrical do hickey of the new ice maker, hung the ice maker on the bolts and then re-tightened them. However,still no ice,my problem was the water valve on the back of the fridge behind the cardboard. Although it was still giving H2O thru the door it was not allowing water to flow to the ice maker. I reccommend pouring some water into the ice tray of the ice maker. If it makes ice and dumps it in to the holder, your ice maker is OK. If it turns out to be your water valve, that fix is easy as well. I HIGHLY reccommend watching the "fix it" video associated with that part. That repair also took less than 15 minutes. Good Luck! Loosened the two mounting screws (no need to remove them), lift off the icemaker and unplug it. Reverse the order and done.

I removed the two side mount screws with a screwdriver and disconnected the electrical plug to the ice maker to remove it. I reversed the process to install the new one.

It was the thermostat that was the problem, but I chose to replace the entire ice maker for only $25 more.
