FFHS2611LWMA Frigidaire Refrigerator - Instructions

The service manual diagram shows the 149 complete fan shroud in a vertical (upright) position. Misleading! Of course.
The actual mounting of the lay in fan shroud fully assembled is in the horizontal position laying in a tray area just above the evaporator coil cage assembly. The entire shroud assembly can be installed incorrectly by the diagram and will still fit. BUT... no cold air will flow or be forced into the ice maker vent nor the refrigerator vent. I found this out the hard way by trial & error.
If the drawing had shown it in the horizontal position for both removal and reinstallation... it would have saved a lot of time and headaches. Also, the diagram does not show the (2) plastic angle supports on the shroud, another scratch your head event. Parts included on drawing... 149, 5, 8, 9, 13, 14 on CTFFHS2611PF4 diagram page of service manual.
ALSO, the (4) lower cabinet plate screws have to be removed, and the first left hand screw counting up to allow the next upper panel to swing out enough to lay the shroud in correctly (horizontal) on top of the evaporator coil cage. BOTTOM LINE... THE AIR FLOW HAS TO BE UP IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY.

Looked at video on how to remove and reinstall support and followed the instruct ions

I replaced the bulb using my hands to twist the bulb in the socket located at the top of the refrigerator.

Replaced the Triple Water Valve

Support studs have an expansion fitting - center post has to be pushed through to allow expansion joint to collapse for removal. After installation, this post can be pushed in or pulled out to secure the stud and be the proper length to hold the bins.

None of this was obvious - an online tip from another member was invaluable.

The repair was easy. It just required a little time and patience. There are about a half dozen screws to remove and three of them are very small. I woild suggest a phillips head screwdriver with a magnetic tip for the small screws. They can easly fall into the control unit and be hidden. If they happen to fall, a small pen-type magnet that is expandable will make it easy to retrieve. I used a small set of needle-nose pliers to replace the small metal plates over the plastic pins that hold the water actuator in place. If your are careful, this repair can be done without disconnecting any of the electrical wiring.

The repair was just as easy as ordering the part which arrived on day three after I ordered it! I had already cleaned up the broken glass insert, so all I had to do was unpack and lay the new shelf in. Took less than a minute!

This was a replacement part, a simple snap in. What really impressed me was the PartSelect web site and the ease of locating the part and making sure it was the right one. Finally, the price beat out all the others. Since this tray looked like others on the same unit, I needed the details, the different view angles and dimensions to make sure it was correct. No other web site was even close in ease of use or in providing such details. I know I won't waste my time at PartSelect and I've always gotten the right part at the best price.

REMOVED THE DRAWER, LIFTED OFF THE GLASS, REMOVED THE BROKEN SLIDE, AND PLACED THE NEW SLIDE IN THE PROPER SPACE. REPLCED THE GLASS SHELF TOP AND THE DRAWER. PEICE OF CAKE

Turn off ice maker
Slide wire harness shield off connector
Disconnected harness
Loosened 2 wall screws
Remove old ice maker
Installed new one reversing process

So simple! I just slid the drawer out of the old frame, inserted it in the new one, and added the glass cover.

I removed the drip tray, exposing the screws on the bottom of the dispenser panel. I removed the three screws and lifted upon the panel to pull it out of the opening. From there I unplugged the power cord to release the old panel. I removed the power module from the old panel and installed it into the new panel. I then reattached the power plug and put it back in place. I screwed it back in and inserted the new drip tray.

The repair could not be completed. I ordered a thermostat defrost kit but received a collar arbor for a saw. They do not answer the phone at customer service and the order took close to two weeks to get in the first place. Beware of shopping at this site!

Followed instructions for this part from this site and things went well.

The most difficult task for me was getting old gasket out. I did call for repair help. The service person was most helpful. After almost giving up, one more tug and the gasket started coming out. Next step was cleaning the area. Aligning the gasket correctly made installation easier. I realized right away that I needed to start in a corner. The gasket went in without a hitch. My freezer is like new again. Next installment will be the refrigerator.
