The refrigerator door cracked after 14 years
Unscrewed the old handles and replaced the new handles with the same screws... that easy! It was the easiest repair that I ever had to do.

Freezer door gasket needed replacement
Decided to replace gasket with door in place on fridge Loosened and removed all gasket retaining screws from behind freezer gasket, including the door shelf. Removed and replaced old gasket with new. Positioning and holding door shelf a bit awkward so have another person hold in place for at least one screw. After this replaceing the remaining screws becomes easy. Do not tighten completely until all screws are in place; then align gasket and alternate tightening. Check for snug fit against fridge and adjust if necessary.

Refrigerator door handle was broken
First I removed the two screws that held the top of the handle in place. Then popped off the bottom holder. Replaced the broken handle with the new one, replaced the screws and snap on section and now have a nice looking refirigerator with a handle that works.

Cracked door handle
Despite a long delay due to a lack of stock on hand, the correct part arrived and matched in color. It came without the little rectangular plastic cap or cover for the bottom bolt, so it was good to have kept the old handle and plastic cap on hand. I imagine other owners might have thrown out a broken part, bolts and cap in the meantime. Strictly the handle arrived, but it was easy to install. I'm grateful for a part I wasn't sure could be found.

Old handle had cracked at the top
Removed a small cover plug on the lower portion of the handle, removed three screws. Took off old handle, positioned the new one, replaced the screws and cover plug and that was it! Wouldn't have taken even 15 minutes if I hadn't dropped a screw and had to search for it - lol.

Once I got the correct part, it was easy.
Be careful to get the right part. Older models take a different type handle and it is important to know what direction the door opens. Also, the final 'correct' part came from Amana - and their logo is upsidedown - go figure!

Where handle attaches to top part of refigerator door: that part has broken several times over the past 23 yrs. It's not a difficult fix but clearly a poor design.
Not a difficult fix but clearly a design flaw in the handle itself.

The old seal was broken and leaking causing the freezer to ice up.
The repair was straight forward and was not hard. You do almost need 3 hands as the reinstallation of the inner door panel can be awkward. The only issue that I have is that the new seal has a poor fit. While it was received folded over on itself, this was not the problem. The seal does not expand enough on one side to fully seal the door. It also has a very weak magnet. If the magnet was stronger, then maybe it would seal better. It does still leak to some extent. The seal that was removed had a stronger magnet that the new one does. I would include a photo, but this system does not allow me to add attachments. Overall, I'm pleased with the time that it took to get the gasket, and the ease of replacement, but am not satisfied with the quality of the sealing or the strength of the magnet that holds the door closed. I would rate replace as 8 out of 10, and part quality and how it works as a 2 on a scale of 10.

Broken handle
After popping off the lower cover all I needed was a screwdriver to remove both the upper 2 screws and the lower screw. The new handle was attached in seconds and it matches great.
