stove sometimes would not light or took really long and did not maintain heat
We unplugged the stove and turned off the gas. We slid the oven door off just to make it easier. Unscrewed 3 screws holding the igniter in place. Pulled the igniter out from the back of the stove. Disconnected the two wires. Slid the new igniter in the holder. Rewired it and slid it back into place. Put the screws back in and it was done. Plugged it back in, turned the gas on, tried it out and presto! It was perfect! Lit immediately and strong and now i have a brand new 20 year old stove. lol Happy girl! And this was done by 2 50 year old women!

Oven /Broiler would not ignite
Determined problem was probably the igniter and ordered one. Watched internet video on igniter replacement. When igniter came read instructions and found them incomplete and ambiguous. Turned off current to stove. As per video removed oven door, racks, bottom of oven and flame deflector (only one nut holding in place.) Could then see how existing igniter was wired and understood instructions that came with igniter. Followed instructions for installation and replaced previously removed parts. Turned electricity back on and the oven/broiler gas ignited as per usual. Job took me about an hour. Could do again in 15 minutes.

Oven would not light.
Removed old igniter and replaced with new one.Tested oven and it went on. You need a phillips screwdriver to remove two screws and a small socket for the third screw to remove the igniter cage. Then pull out the wires from under the oven and disconnect. Reverse procedure to install new igniter. Reuse original connectors. Be very careful with the igniter because the tip is very fragile and can break easily.
