RK7474D1 Hotpoint Range - Instructions

Shopped online for a good price for the heating element. Thw element came very quickly, very good packaging. Removed and replaced the element.

Removed access screws from bake element cover, removed screws retaining wire connections on bake element, reverse procedure, and heat to burn off contaminants.

A friend gave me your website. I looked up the model (is over 30 years old & obsolete!), but you listed a similar model. Part fit perfect, works great, heats to set temp quickly. Your do-it-yourself page was a big help...thanks! Replacement went quick and easy after I saw what needed to be done.

The bottom heating element burned out. Ordered the right part and my husband fixed the heating element. This saved a lot of money.Thanks, RM from South Carolina

so easy it doesn't need an explanation. Just remember to throw the breaker switch before beginning!

1) Turned off breaker and verified that the oven would not turn on. 2)Removed racks from the oven. 3) used nut driver to remove two mounting screws 4) used screwdriver to disconnect bake element from the wires. 5) used supplied screws to attach wires to new bake element. 6) pushed bake element into place and used nut driver to secure it in place with screws. 7) replaced racks 8) turned on breaker 9) tested by turning on oven with oven thermometer in place.

Flipped breaker to cut power to the oven.Loosened existing element using nutdriver to remove two screws in rear plate that attaches element to the rear wall of the oven.Pulled old element gently outward exposing two screws that attach element to existing wires.Removed those two screws with nutdriver to remove old element.Reversed the process. Turned power back on and turned on oven. Element worked perfectly.

I was able to find the part here and replaced it the same day. You could use smaller boxes and packing, but thanks you for the part and help.

Ordered the part and replaced the old one. Whole process took about 15 minutes.

I read the instrustions provided and proceded to remove the old Bake Element and installed the new Bake Element.
It was no problem at all and was just a simple job to replace the bad part.

less than 15 minutes R2 the part, ops ck'd good. 4ea 1/4" screw/nuts, they didn't fight me...

The repair was a snap! Unscrew the two small bolts holding the back of the element in place. Pull out the element so that the connectors and wires are accessible. Unscrew the two wires from the element. Remove old element. Place new element in oven. Attach the two wires to the new element (two screws), place the new element in position and replace the two small bolts that were removed at the beginning. All done. Best thing? This is a 20 year old oven, GE didn't even have the part I needed. You did! Thanks.

First of all let me say, I am grateful you are supplying parts to an oven made in 1984. I noticed the crack the day before Thanksgiving and immediately started looking for the part because Thanksgiving was the least of my worries. I have a countertop broiler to cook the turkey and dressing in but I am catering a huge party in a week and really need the oven in top shape. Due to minor surgery I have not made the repair but I want to say thank you for getting the part to me on Saturday right after Thanksgiving. Wednesday to Saturday with a two day holiday is incredible. Thanks for the great customer service.

Getting the part out was easy. Turned the power off (of course) first. The outside nuts were corroded, so had to use a pair of pliers to get them off. The inside connectors were easier to get off. I had a little trouble getting the connectors on the wires. The metal part on the heating element kept wanting to bend. I finally had someone hold that in place while I made the connections. The outside screws were easy to put on. The oven now works great. I think the element was failing over a period of time, and we just didn't notice. I can't remember the last time I actually saw the element get RED hot. Works great. Thanks for your quick service and reasonable prices. Will definitely use you again, when I need parts like this.
