RK747G3J2 Hotpoint Range - Instructions

Element went out on Wednesday; ordered part on Thursday; it arrived on Saturday (via regular service). Took out old part with hex screw drived, installed new and back in business.

removed the element with 2 screws. disconected element with 2 screws. reversed order to install new element.

Shopped online for a good price for the heating element. Thw element came very quickly, very good packaging. Removed and replaced the element.

Removed access screws from bake element cover, removed screws retaining wire connections on bake element, reverse procedure, and heat to burn off contaminants.

The longest step in the fix was the walk downstairs to turn off the breaker.
1 nut driver to remove the element from the oven. 1 screwdriver to disconnect. Just as simple to re-install.

If you have this oven I seriously recommend the $30 expense to replace the element before it fails. It honestly went out with a white hot welder's torch sort of short circuit that could have burned my house down.

After checking the website, I wasn't sure the part I needed was available. Called the Customer Service number and the lady was very helpful.
My part was delivered in 2 days regular UPS.

The most time took finding which breaker shut off the power to the oven. Removed two screws on the inside of the oven at the back wall. Pulled out the wiring and removed two more screws that attached the power to the element. Replaced the old element with the new one. Reversed the process. Done in 12 minutes! Very easy.

Used nut driver to remove old element and screw driver to remove power leads. Reversed process to install new element. Took about 5 minutes.

Took out the old (removed 2 screws holding the element to the back of the oven, disconnected the 2 screws attaching the electrical wires to the element). Decided to clean the oven with EasyOff. It took longer to spray this on, and then later wipe it up, than the repair itself. Reversed the procedure for the new element. A very simple repair - my wife is amazed!

Getting the part out was easy. Turned the power off (of course) first. The outside nuts were corroded, so had to use a pair of pliers to get them off. The inside connectors were easier to get off. I had a little trouble getting the connectors on the wires. The metal part on the heating element kept wanting to bend. I finally had someone hold that in place while I made the connections. The outside screws were easy to put on. The oven now works great. I think the element was failing over a period of time, and we just didn't notice. I can't remember the last time I actually saw the element get RED hot. Works great. Thanks for your quick service and reasonable prices. Will definitely use you again, when I need parts like this. unscrewed the broken one and replaced it with the new heating element. Worked perfectly! 20+ year old oven.

Unscrewed old element and screwed in the new one.

Removed two small bolt screws that held the bottom burner in place. Unscrew the two small screws that attach the oven wiring to the bottom burner. Put the bottom burner back in place and screw the two small bolt screws back in and its done.

Turned off electricity at fuse box. Unscrewed old element and removed. Put in new element, screwed it in. Turned on electricity. Voila.

Removed 4 screws and removed the old element and replaced in the reverse order.

I have to admit that I tried to remove the element myself but I did not have the right tool for the last two screws. If I did it would have been very easy. I ordered the part and had someone else put it in so I cheated.
