JKP78G2K1 General Electric Range - Instructions

Turned power off to oven. Unscrewed back plate exposing wires connected to heating element. It was difficult to unscrew the connections between them as it was hard to reach in because the oven door was in the way, but i finally succeeded. Unscrewed the bracket holding the burned out element and then attached the wires to the new element. Attached the bracket and I turned on the power. I then tested the oven and it worked.

I removed the two screws holding it in place,Then pulled it out so
i could remove the two wires , then connected the new unit. Replaced it in the oven wall.
Turned the oven on and it worked like a new one.

Removed the two screws that held the element in place. Pulled the unit out a few inches to get at the bolted wires. The hard part is reaching in the oven using bifocal lenses and trying to block out the oven light. Getting past that obstacle, the rest went very well.

Toughest chore was to find a tool to remove the two hex screws that held the element to the back of the oven. Once I found the proper tool, the rest was easy. Pulled the circuit breaker, removed the two hex screws, disconnected the two electrical leads and put the new part in and did everything in reverse. Probably saved over $100 doing it myself.

Turn circuit breaker off.
Two screws detached the unit.
Another two screws to disconnect the wires. Reversed above operation for installation.
Turn circuit breaker on.
All fixed!

Took out old element with screw driver and replaced new element with screw driver, very simple.
We were so happy with the customer service, had the new element the very next morning. Thank you.

First I Shut off the breaker from the fuse box
Tried to turn oven on to make sure I tripped the correct breaker
Removed element from back wall of oven by removing 2 screws using a socket set
Gently pull out element a few inches and then unscrew 2 wires from the bake element using a phillips screwdriver
Replace old element with the new one
Screw wires to element
Attach new element to back wall of oven making sure the rectagular hole is totally covered and the element is flush against the back wall
Replace screws attaching baking element to back of oven wall
Turn on breakers and test the oven

remove two screws from back of oven holding element to back of oven. Pull out gently, remove two screws holding wire connections(power wires) throw away old element. Place new element into oven. Reconnect element to power wires using screws. Push element back into back of oven. Replace screws holding element in place. Turn oven on to check for proper connections.

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires and replaced the two wires that hold the element in place. I received the part within about 36 hours after placing order.

Removed the coverplate screws, slid the element outward, and removed the wire connecting screws. Positioned the new element to reconnect the wires, and discovered this isn't easy to see with trifocals. Succeeded after several failed attempts. Slid the new element into position, and reattached the cover plate.

After an exhaustive search of local oven dealers and big box stores, I could not find a broiler element for my aged GE stove. I did find it online at Parts Select for about 1/3 the cost from GE online parts.

Replacement was easy-- just as described in posts for this part. The 'hardest' job was getting the screws started that hold the wires to the element-- small screws and small holes-- but just required some patience. A simple, inexpensive repair that avoided my having to replace the entire stove. Thanks!
