oven post mini explosion sounding
the flame spreader through the years, developed a hole above the glow coil causing the above trapped gas between the oven pan and spreader to ignite. by replacing the flame spreader the problem is gone and is now working properly. thank you, parts select for being there when i needed the part and also being reasonably priced. mike marino

Igniter did not produce enough heat to light oven.
Disconnect power. Remove oven door, oven racks, bottom pan, drawer below the oven. unsnap igniter wire connector. Remove two screws holding the igniter in place, remove igniter.
Install igniter (placing igniter wires away from any heat producing parts) and all parts in reverse order as they were removed.
Oven heats good now, makes great cornbread and biscuits, the wife helps the oven do this.

determined that the top of the burner was melted and malformed. Repair was simple: lifted off the damaged burner and slipped the new one in place.

Our burner caps had started chipping.
Was able to see the exact part with easy to read schematic so I knew I was ordering the right part. Then just switched out the old for the new. Looks like a new cooktop except for the scratches in the stainless, but we are working on that! Thanks!

oven wouldn't ignite
Pretty easy in all. The connector from the igniter to teh power sorce didn't quite fit. Ijust cut off the new one and spliced the old one back on. Probably could have made my life easier if I took off the oven door, but it just meant I had to reach more. Works great, and other the connector, which I didn't really think would fit a 15 year old oven,it was very easy/.

Front right burner would not light.
After calling a appliance repair person out because I could not find the module, he pulled the range out so he could remove the top, back cover. He used the correct nut-driver to remove the back. The module is attached to the cover and is exposed when you take it off. Just gently pry the module from the cover. When I saw where it was I paid the repair person for his visit and ordered the new module from PartSelect.com. When it arrived I proceeded to install the new module. I had to use pliers to grasp each connector going into the module and use a flat bladed screwdriver between the module and pliers to get each one to release. I took one wire off at a time and inserted each one into the new module, corresponding to the place it came out of the old module. When I had all the wires inserted into the new module I pushed the new module, using a flat bladed screwdriver, back onto the back cover of the stove. Reattached the back cover with the metal screws and pushed the range back into place. All burners are lighting as designed.

Original burner cap was chipping; must have been dropped somewhere along the line.
New burner cap replaced old; just placed over burner; no tools required.
One suggestion: burner cap should have been shipped with thicker bubble protection (easy to do). It was minimally wrapped and placed in a thin, bubble envelope, risking damage in shipping process. Luckily, the burner arrived in tact and usable.

Ignter would glow but gas valve wouldn't open
I removed the door and the racks, and the flame spreader. I removed the 4"X6" shield loosen the circular flap to plug the new igniter to the recepticle. Turn the oven on to check the operation and if it comes on, button it back up. remember open the oven door approx 3" and pull upwords to remove the door. I would say 90% of the time the igniter is the problem.

Igniter went bad
1. Unplug from electrical outlet. 2. Turn off gas valve. 3. Remove oven door. 4. Remove bottom drawer. 5. Remove oven shelves. 6. Remove oven floor, take out the two screws at the rear. 7. Unplug the igniter from the wire harness, you can reach it from where you removed the drawer. 8. Remove the igniter, by unscrewing the two bolts using your nut driver. 9. Replace with new igniter. 10. Put everything back together, starting with # 9 and work your way to #1.
