CBC980ST2SS General Electric Range - Instructions

Pull out wires & replace element by putting wires back in then tighten...done!!!!

I used pliers to remove the hex bolts from the old burner element and pulled out the terminals by hand. I ordered my part and was slightly concerned because the part number was different (this due to my oven being so old I guess). After reading another repair story on this site, when I got my new part, I turned off the electricity to the range at the fuse box vs. unplugging the oven from the wall - because if I had pulled out the oven to access the plug, I would have had to re-caulk along the edges where it connects with my counter tops. I then slid the terminals into the female parts; this was a bit tricky because the female parts had receded behind the insulation in the hole in the back of the oven where they are located. I used small needle-nosed pliers to grab them and pull them forward enough to slide the new terminals in (by hand). I then put in the old hex bolts and used the pliers to tighten them. Flipped the fuse box switch and tried it out - worked great!

Used nut driver and removed the 4 nuts holding the broiler. Pulled electrical wires of old broiler Received new unit and it was just as easy to replace. Thank you for assistance.

Turned off juice
Pulled stove from wall
Unscrewed 2 screws to loosen range top
Lifted n propped top
Unplugged 4 wires
Unscrewed burner assembly
Installed burner-reversed steps to reassemble

Disconnect stove electrical connection. Removed 2 bolts common to the upper stove top cover. Disconnected 4 wires from burner element along with 2 retaining clips.
Removed burner element and replaced with new element. Reinstalled 4 wires and 2 retaining clips. Lowered stove top cover and reinstalled 2 bolts. Connect stove electrical to wall outlet. Turn on burner element and verify that it works.

PULL RANGE OUT FROM WALL & ALSO REMOVED OVEN DOOR BY SLIDING UP. WORKING FROM INSIDE OVEN & ALSO BEHIND I REPLACED PART . ALWAYS " UNPLUG " RANGE BEFORE YOU START.

Easy

The unit has two spring clips that hold it in place. Also two screws that hold the element to the clips. It comes apart ok but doesn't go back as easy. I didn't remove the top as there was room to work from under it.

My daughter held the top down against a wooden dowl i was using as a prop rod . My wife held the unit in place . I finally got the clips back on and the screws back in . Centered the unit , transfered the wires , and it works perfect . Only three people and 30 min.

after removing element.I order part. part was inserted without problems . It was correct fit. I am now baking again. Thank you the quick services on the order.

First I found the model number, but it's parts were under a different number. So I ordered what I thought was the right oven element, but it wasnt right . My husband couldnt get it to fit . Well he finaly found the right part number so we could order the right part. We returned the wrong part and got the right element. It went in perfectly and the oven is working just fine now. Remember to always look up the part number you need and then order it.

Use a 1/4" nutdriver and remove the screws that are on the bottom corners of the range top.Prop up the range top high enough for ease of using 1/4" nut driver. Take a picture of the wiring for future reference on re-installing wiring. Note arrow location on burner and remove 1/4" screws holding the clamps to the burner in place and place to the side for re-install on new burner.Remove wiring off old burner.Hold new burner in place with arrow location in previous location and notice holes where clamps will go. Screw clamps on burner using original screws and snap in mounting slots on stove.Re-install wiring.Lower range top and re install 2 screws , 1 in each corner under range top. Test for proper operation and enjoy!

Remove and replaced water valve, seems to have fixed the problem

First we removed the screws inside the oven. Next, the oven backing was removed by unscrewing one side and one bottom bolt which exposed the clips for the burner. The clips were removed from the old burner. The old burner was pulled through the fiberglass protection and out of the oven. The new burner was inserted into the oven and the prongs were pushed through the fiberglass protection. The screws inside the oven were reattached. The clips were attached on the outside of the oven. The backing was slid into the right holding piece and the bolts on the left and bottom were attached.

The repair was very simple removed old element by removing two screws and disconnecting the element from the wires and reinstalling the new one.
