PB900TP2WW General Electric Range - Instructions

I turned the breaker off to the stove and moved it away from the wall. I then removed the center cover off the back of the stove and exposed the wires connected to the bake element. I removed the wires from the bake element and then opened the oven and removed the two bolts holding the element onto the back wall of the oven. I discarded the old element and replaced it with the new first bolting the new in , then connected the two wires and replaced the rear cover. Turned on the power and made a cake.

Pulled out stove. Removed rear panel, and set aside. Removed melted bake element by unscrewing the mounting plate screws, and unplugging both leads from the stove. Replaced in reverese fashion. Easiest electrical replacement I have done.

After reading about possible losses of the wire leads, I put together a simple solution. First, turned off the breaker, then pulled the grates out for full access.
Using a nutdriver on the hex-head screws holding the backing plate to the oven wall, I removed the screws, then gently lifted and pulled the element and it's attached wire leads out of the insulated rear of the oven.
Attach a plastic clothespin to each lead above the spring clip attaching the lead to the element so the springy wire would not tend to pull back into the difficult-to-access insulated area "behind the wall" because that would be a real pain to get at.
With nothing other than fingers, the spring clips can then be removed from the tabs on the element, the old piece removed, the new element set in place and quickly re-connected. No Problem!

I unscrewed the 2 screws that held in the element, pulled it out a little, disconnected the 2 wires, got the new element out of the box, connected the two wires on the new element, put the screws back in and it was done! Very easy.

Pulled stove out to access back panel. Unscrew broken switch/stem. Replaced each wire one at a time to make sure they went in right spot. Screw in new switch. Replaced back panel.

Turned the wire protector to the side. Turned out the old bulb and replaced it with the new. Turned the wire protector back in place and I'm like new.

Followed example on YouTube! Very easy.

We decided to go "on line" to see if there was any way to fix the stove ourselves and found the Part Select website. After entering the model number for the stove, we were able to find the heating element. We ordered it and received it two days later! We saved money and time. Thank you!

First I pulled stove out away from wall and unplugged the power cord then I removed the oven door to make repair much easier. I removed the two screws holding the heating element in place. I then went behind stove and unscrewed four screws to remove panel covering the electrical connections. Disconnected wires to heating element. Removed old element and reversed each step to connect new element.

This was my first attempt at an appliance repair. The job did nit look too difficult so I thought I would give it a try. The most important thing I can recommend is to have some type of clips to hold the wires after disconnecting the old element. As soon as you disconnect the wire, it retracts into the insulation. My job became more difficult and required pulling out the stove, removing the rear panel, and now needing a second person to push the wires back Into the oven. What should have been a 15 minute job now was a 30 minute procedure. Keep in mind that when you pull a stove out you now have to get the cleaning supplies out also. Word to the wise:USE THOSE PLASTIC SNACK BAG CLIPS! To hold the end of the wires.

First of all i ordered the part and recieved it the following day, thank you PartSelect. :) Installation was a breeze. I just turned off the main circuit breaker then pulled the range out from its position between the countertops. I used an adjustable wrench to remove two small bolts holding the baking element in place, carefully pulled out the element to expose the two wires, disconnected them and connected the new element, put the backplate bolts back in turned on the main breaker and the oven worked as good as new.

The repair was easy to fix. I unplugged the stove to be safe, unscrewed the broken element and disconnect. And reconnected the new element and screwed it into place.

turned off power to stove.
removed old coil, as instructed by internet info.
replace new coil.

Removed back cover of stove. . . Just a few screws. . . Disconnected 2 terminals to bake element. Then removed 2 screws inside the oven. . . Holding the element. Replaced with new element. . . Reattached the two mounting screws inside the oven. . . Attached terminals in back. . . Replaced back cover that covered the terminals and other connections. That was it.

My 8 year old son did the repair while I explaned what to do,that was the best part of this stove problem. My burner caught fire when it broke and really scared my children. I looked up the part on Part-Select and ordered it. To my complete surprise it arrived the next day(I did not pay for overnight) My son wanted to learn how to take out the old one and put in the new one so I let him.
