PB900DP3BB General Electric Range - Instructions

After reading about possible losses of the wire leads, I put together a simple solution. First, turned off the breaker, then pulled the grates out for full access.
Using a nutdriver on the hex-head screws holding the backing plate to the oven wall, I removed the screws, then gently lifted and pulled the element and it's attached wire leads out of the insulated rear of the oven.
Attach a plastic clothespin to each lead above the spring clip attaching the lead to the element so the springy wire would not tend to pull back into the difficult-to-access insulated area "behind the wall" because that would be a real pain to get at.
With nothing other than fingers, the spring clips can then be removed from the tabs on the element, the old piece removed, the new element set in place and quickly re-connected. No Problem!

We decided to go "on line" to see if there was any way to fix the stove ourselves and found the Part Select website. After entering the model number for the stove, we were able to find the heating element. We ordered it and received it two days later! We saved money and time. Thank you!

Repair was fairly easy. Had the problem that I had read about with one of the connection wires falling behind oven. Time consuming to take of back of stove but otherwise all went very well.

When the new element arrived I turned off the power to the stove, opened the oven, removed the 2 racks inside and took the 2 screws out of the old element. I slowly pulled it toward the oven door to expose the wires attached to it and was able to slip one wire off the old element and hold it with vice grips so it wouldn't slip back into the stove. Unfortunately the other wire slipped off the element on it's own and immediately went back inside the stove. Our stove is a slide in so, after trying to fish out the wire for about 5 minutes with an ice pick, I gave up and slid the stove out, turned it sideways and removed the 7 screws holding the vertical center cover on the stove back. When I removed the cover the wiring was exposed so I re-routed the lost wire to give me some slack and then pushed it back through the hole into the oven. I then opened the oven door, slipped both wires onto the new element, reattached the element to the oven wall with the 2 screws and turned the power on and checked the new element. I then closed the oven, reattached the back plate and slid the stove back into place. Oh, and while it was out I took the opportunity to clean the area where it sits. All in all it was a simple job, just a little time consuming.

Removed old baking element by removing two sheet metal screws inside the oven and pulling out the old element. When pulling out the old element, one of the wires was too short and popped back into the back of the oven. I then had to pull out the oven, take the shielding off the back of the appliance, gain some slack in the wire and push it back into the interior of the oven. I connected the new element and was finished with the repair.

First I pulled stove out away from wall and unplugged the power cord then I removed the oven door to make repair much easier. I removed the two screws holding the heating element in place. I then went behind stove and unscrewed four screws to remove panel covering the electrical connections. Disconnected wires to heating element. Removed old element and reversed each step to connect new element.

First- I slid the ove out and unscrewed the back metal piece/flap that covers where the element attaches to wires.
Second- I unscrewed the two nuts/screws that holld the element in place-An appropriately sized socket wrench would have made it way easier.
Third-Before pulling the element out, I disconnected the wire connection-the element tab just slid out of the connector.
Fourth- Pull out the old element and replace with new one. Attach wires before screwing in the element place holders.
Fifth-Replace back cover and screws. slide oven back into its nook,
Sixth-Bake some cookies.

Used Socket set to remove the two screws in the oven to unplug and replace, had to also take the back pannel off the stove to get the new unit connected into the socket, total time less than 30 min.

Turned off power to stove. Removed burned-out element by removing two sheet metal screws and disconnecting two push-on electrical terminals.

Installed new element by pushing on electrical terminals. Pushed the new element back in place and secured with two sheet-metal screws.

Turned power back on and tested element. All OK.

I removed the 2 screws that held the element in place. I then pulled the element out and removed the 2 wires. I was able to connect one wire to the new element, but the second wire drew back though the opening. I then had to pull out the stove and remove the center cover on the back of the stove by removeing the screws, there were five or six. do not forget the one in the center of the bottom. I then connected the second wire and replaced the back cover and slid the stove back in place. I then replaced the 2 screws that held in the element in and was done. Worked good as new and no repair bill.

The repair was easy to fix. I unplugged the stove to be safe, unscrewed the broken element and disconnect. And reconnected the new element and screwed it into place.

This was my first attempt at an appliance repair. The job did nit look too difficult so I thought I would give it a try. The most important thing I can recommend is to have some type of clips to hold the wires after disconnecting the old element. As soon as you disconnect the wire, it retracts into the insulation. My job became more difficult and required pulling out the stove, removing the rear panel, and now needing a second person to push the wires back Into the oven. What should have been a 15 minute job now was a 30 minute procedure. Keep in mind that when you pull a stove out you now have to get the cleaning supplies out also. Word to the wise:USE THOSE PLASTIC SNACK BAG CLIPS! To hold the end of the wires.
