JDS26GP3AD General Electric Range - Instructions

I read the "easy to repair" story after I ordered my part and I felt like I coud do this on my own. (Female not much experience in repairs) I shut off circuit breaker...proceeded to take out element...could not get it to easiler come off...so I made the mistake of cutting the wire because it looked like that's what I needed to do. WORD TO THE WISE...there are clamps that actually pull off the element..just need to pull a little. So my "easy" project was made more difficult because I didn't know this up front. Otherwise it would have been a breeze. I had to go to the hardware store and but new clamps and attach to the cut wire. Good news is my oven is now working and Parts.com was fast, cheaper than the GE parts place and great service.

the only challenging thing realizing that the screws in the back weren't for a screw driver, they were for a very small wrench. Since I didn't have such a tool, I just used vice grips. It all went well though. The oven currently heats to 400 degrees in 7.5 min. I am quite happy.

Removed the two screws pulled out the old element and slid the new element in and put the screws back in. I used it that night to bake supper

Removed the two screws and pulled out the bake element. Then plugged in the new element and replaced the screw. Easy

Simply turned off the power (circuit box). Unscrewed the screws holding the element in place and detached the element from the wires. Replaced with the new element and replaced the screws. Turned the power back on. Easy as pie and saved lots of $$!

first i unplugged the stove to disconnect all power. next itried using pliers to unscrew the screws and was having a hard time so hubby got the adjustable wrench and it was much easier. after taking out the two screws, i pulled the element out about three inches and disconnected the element from the two wires that hold it in place. then i snapped the new element in place just as the old one was and reattached the element to the stove using the two screws. after assuring that element was secure, i turned my oven on to 300 degrees and voila!!! we're cookin again!!!

Remove dthe two screws and removed the element. Put the new element in and replaced the terminals and screws. Partselected is the fastest shippers on the net.

This was really easy considering what it would have cost to have a repair person come and do it - not to mention the wait time. I had to hunt around a little bit to find the right socket, but once I had that, I unscrewed the bolts in the back and slide the element out. TIP: make sure you turn off the electricity!!!!!!!!! The wires were a little stuck, but the oven is 11 years old, so it's to be expected. One of the wires came off behind the oven, but I used needle nose pliers and fished around until I grabbed it. I detached the wires, attached the new ones, turned the electricity on and it's been baking Christmas cookies ever since. BTW - the part came in 3 days. I was sooo happy I didn't have to wait for a repair person. Thanks for all of you who posted your comments online. That was just the encouragement I needed to try it myself!

After watching the video on your website the repair was a cinch. I would never have attempted doing it if I hadn't seen your video. Thanks for saving us a lot of money.

Piece of cake. Pulled range out, unplugged it, opened stove, unscrewed element from back of stove w/ socket wrench, pulled out 1/2 way, unplugged bad bake element from the 2 wires, plugged in new bake element in, reattached to back of oven, plugged in stove and it worked.

I turned the power off.Pushed on the terminals,and used a nut driver to secure the element to the oven back wall.Great service.I recieved the part in 24 hours with reg. shipping at a great price,Unbelieveable!!!

Turned power off. Removed two screws holding the element. Pulled element out 3 inches, disconnected the two wires, pulled out old element, connected wires of new element, replaced screws. Turned power back on. Eureka!! the oven heats again. :-)

After removing the screws holding the element in I disconnected the wires and attached alligator clips to the wires to keep them from pulling back inside the holes. I would have had to pull the stove out and removed some covers if they disappeared through the holes. After getting the part number off of the old element, I ordered a new element from Partselect.com and received the new one in less the a week. Reinstalling the new element took about 5 minutes.

I had grease on the baking element when I turned the oven on. I thought it would burn off, it caught fire and destroyed the baking element. I ordered a new element, it came within two days. I didn't wait for my husband to come home. I got a screw driver, took off the screw, used pliers to pull apart the old baking element from the wires. I did this carefully , our oven is old and the element was not pulling away easily. I inserted the new element, put the screws in and it worked perfectly! I was very proud of myself but the truth is that this is a simple job.

I took out the two racks from inside the oven. I then took my cordless screw driver and unscrewed the two hex bolts from the back of the oven , where the element goes through the other side. Next I went to the back of the outside of the oven and unscrewed the two hex bolts that hold the gray guard on(It covers the wires). I unplugged the red and the yellow (might have been a white wire since it was dark back there). wires that connect to the element. I went to the front of the stove and took out the bad element. I took the new one and inserted it into the two holes from the old element. Plugged the red and yellow wires back up and replaced the guard. Lastly I screwed the element to the rear of the oven with the two hex bolts I used before.
