RBS160DM4BB General Electric Range - Instructions

UNPLUG the oven. Following what every else was doing, I removed the element first, then disconnected the contacts. The leads on the contacts are not overly long, so I found myself removing cover on rear of oven when reconnecting red and yellow wires. Required removing two more screws with nut driver. Should I have to replace another element, I would remove rear cover first, unplug wires from element, remove element. Reverse procedure with new element.
While waiting for new element, be careful when turning on stove top element. Don't turn on oven by mistake, and when you do it, turn it off as fast as you can.
If you use stove top while waiting for part, don't forget to UNPLUG the oven. Won't be but a day or two. Very happy customer.

I ordered part at 10am on Monday and part arrived at Noon on Tuesday 24 hours WHAT MORE can I say... It was all easy and now I have to cook again, so much for the stove is broken excuse.

Popped off old gasket and some retaining clips stuck but were easily removable. New gasket pops right in, super easy. Fits like new.

less then ten minutes, used a electric screw driver and in a snap, finished, I always buy my parts on line at parts select my stove is old but in good condition except parts give out sometimes and I just order part and keep on cooking.

Found the Model information under the bottom drawer. Googled GE Range and rubber, found this vendor. Amazing, the replacement gasket was exactly as the original. Took the old gasket off with needle nose pliers, there were small metal clamps that had to be pinched together. Once the old gasket was off, the new one practically installed itself. Woman Power!

Baking is MUCH better now!

Ordered the part and put it on. My husband hasn't relized that i took care of it yet. One day he might remember to ask if we ever got the part. Very quick delivery.

Used nut driver and removed the 4 nuts holding the broiler. Pulled electrical wires of old broiler Received new unit and it was just as easy to replace. Thank you for assistance.

I used pliers to remove the hex bolts from the old burner element and pulled out the terminals by hand. I ordered my part and was slightly concerned because the part number was different (this due to my oven being so old I guess). After reading another repair story on this site, when I got my new part, I turned off the electricity to the range at the fuse box vs. unplugging the oven from the wall - because if I had pulled out the oven to access the plug, I would have had to re-caulk along the edges where it connects with my counter tops. I then slid the terminals into the female parts; this was a bit tricky because the female parts had receded behind the insulation in the hole in the back of the oven where they are located. I used small needle-nosed pliers to grab them and pull them forward enough to slide the new terminals in (by hand). I then put in the old hex bolts and used the pliers to tighten them. Flipped the fuse box switch and tried it out - worked great!

Did the repair just like the video shows.

I removed the rear lower cover. Disconnected the terminals from the heating element. Removed 2 screws from the heating element from inside the oven. Removed the heating element. Reinstalled everything in reverse order.

Slide the rang out to access the 240V plug & unplugging it. Removed the sheetmetal cover from the rear of the range to access the slip on wire plugs to prevent damaging the insulation. The insulation would be damaged if pulling them through the opening in the oven wall with the plugs attached to the element. Removed the racks from the oven. Unscrewed the retaining screws holding the element to the rear wall of the oven, lifted damaged element out and reversed the process for instillation. Perfect opportunity to clean underneath and behind the range.

Pull out wires & replace element by putting wires back in then tighten...done!!!!

Move range out from wall,unplug power supply,remove two screws from back wall of lower oven element unplug two wires,discard burned element.Install new element,plug two wires in,fasten two screws. Done

after removing element.I order part. part was inserted without problems . It was correct fit. I am now baking again. Thank you the quick services on the order.

First I found the model number, but it's parts were under a different number. So I ordered what I thought was the right oven element, but it wasnt right . My husband couldnt get it to fit . Well he finaly found the right part number so we could order the right part. We returned the wrong part and got the right element. It went in perfectly and the oven is working just fine now. Remember to always look up the part number you need and then order it.
