JMP26G*J2 General Electric Range - Instructions

Removed the broken one by disconnecting the two screws , yellow and red wires and replacing it with the new part you sent me. Very simple.

Removed the bad part. There were 4 screws,
Found part on the internet.
When part arrived I installed it using the screws that I removed when I took out the bad part.

First I Shut off the breaker from the fuse box
Tried to turn oven on to make sure I tripped the correct breaker
Removed element from back wall of oven by removing 2 screws using a socket set
Gently pull out element a few inches and then unscrew 2 wires from the bake element using a phillips screwdriver
Replace old element with the new one
Screw wires to element
Attach new element to back wall of oven making sure the rectagular hole is totally covered and the element is flush against the back wall
Replace screws attaching baking element to back of oven wall
Turn on breakers and test the oven

remove two screws from back of oven holding element to back of oven. Pull out gently, remove two screws holding wire connections(power wires) throw away old element. Place new element into oven. Reconnect element to power wires using screws. Push element back into back of oven. Replace screws holding element in place. Turn oven on to check for proper connections.

I located and removed 2 sets of hex-head screws under the front lip of the cooktop, then lifted the entire cooktop to access the burner controls. Removed the wires and taped them, and took out the old control after removing 2 phillips head screws. Installed replacement part easily. Only tricky part is that the various shaft adapters don't quite work with my knob. I'll fix it completely with a bit of epoxy and the adapters they sent.

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires on the element. Put in the new element and reconnected the wires. Pushed the wires and element back into place and screwed in the screws that hold the element in place.

1. The infinite switch had several knobs which would fit the switch shaft. Read the directions included with the switch in order to have the shaft fit the proper knob. You can break the shaft with two pairs of pliers. 2. Move the stove away from the wall and unplug it. 3. Remove the 1/4 screws from the back side of the stove and remove the back panel, exposing the switch. 4. Remove the wires one at a time and put them on the new switch. The terminals are L1, L2, P, H1 & H2. The Pilot (p) has a smaller terminal so you don't get it mixed up. Generally L1 is black, L1 is red, P is yellow, H1 and H2 can be blue, brown, yellow, orange or one of these colors striped on a white wire. 5. Remove the old switch from the stove and be sure to save the two mounting screws. 6. Position the new switch so that the side of the switch marked "top" is on top. 7. Install the screws on the new switch and put the knob on it. 8. Carefully test the burner. 9. Unplug the stove and put the back cover on.

I read your website repair testimonials by previous customers and used that advise to do the job. I liked the suggestion to use something to attach to the unattached wires so they don't slip back into the unit. I used two clothespins. I had one stubborn electrical connection to disconnect so it took a little longer -about 30 minutes. But it was a simple job to do and my oven works fine again. The item was delivered timely from the order date and packaged well. Thank-you!

New element arrived in a couple of days! We turned off breaker to oven, removed the old one which only involved two screws. Then we had to connect new one and re-attach metal square, only tricky part was getting the metal square positioned correctly but that was really not hard, just made sure insulation was covered and plate went back in same position. If we had called a eepair company it would have taken a week or more and probably been expensive!

Took out the old and put in the new! Easy and inexpensive repair (especially because my husband did it!)

On Thanksgiving Day, we were making a pecan pie. The lower oven started to smoke and flame. We quickly turned off the oven, removed the pie, and noticed that half of the lower burner element had turned into cinders. I copied down the part number and serial number of the oven, went to Google, and found the replacement part that I needed. Once the oven had cooled down, I turned off the circuit braker for the oven and tried to remove the burned out heating element. The good news was that I could remove it with my SAE socket set. I then ordered the part on line, knowing with confidence that I could do the replacement myself.
The part arrived one day after I got the email that the part had shipped. That is great service!
I waited till the next day to do the repair since I needed to have the right tools lined up and I needed to wear clothes that might get dirty when working deep inside the oven. A flashlight and a socket set with a 1/4 inch drive were the main tools I needed to do the electrical connections and the oven connection. I also used a blunt putty knife to clean out some of the goo in the oven.
After the repair, I turned the circuit breaker back on and placed a separate oven thermometer into the oven for the first test. The oven worked just fine at 250, 350, and 450 degree settings. Wife is now happy!

Turned off power. Unscrewed two screws and pulled old element out of oven. Disconnected the two wires. Cleaned oven thoroughly, held new bake element with soft rag so as to not get fingerprints all over it. Wired new element and screwed it back into oven.

Baking sweet potatoes as I write, they will be delicious with my black-eyed peas and ham, a New Year's tradition in my neck of the woods.

Then connected two wires to the new element pushed it back into two place and reinstalled screws that hold element in place. Really easy about 15-20 minutes to complete
