JBP80TM1WW General Electric Range - Instructions

Took the oven door off and removed the inner door panel, put new glass assembly part in and reassembled. The hard part was getting the door hinges locked back into place.

Installed the faceplate to the front of control board (you might wait until you remove the old board first). Removed 3 screws with a nutdriver holding the top stove black plate and 4 screws holding the control board in place. Disconnected the wiring harness from the 4 pin jack at end of the board and the 4 color coded wires from the color coded pins on several components on the board. Connected the color coded wires and replaced the board into the stove with the 4 screws and replaced the top plate to the back of the stove. My faceplate came in a long envelope and was not bent.

Took me a second to remember that YouTube is just as handy a tool as what I've got in my toolbox. The installation of the new glass was as easy as apple pie. Anybody that has ever used a screwdriver could manage that fix and do so single handedly. PartSelect.com came through with an easy-to-navigate website, a very reasonable price range and anything you could ask for to help fix whatever has broken. I quoted a gentleman in my town, a handyman, and he came back with a price tag of over $300 for parts and labor! Even with tax, shipping and the new glass I came in well under $100, and the labor was next to nothing. I am a 62 year old woman with NO experience fixing appliances However I didn't have the money for a repairman so I ordered the part and googled "Hiw to change a heating element in a GE range". All the instructions were there and now my oven is working perfectly. I even posted on Facebook for my female friends to encourage them to do repairs themselves. What a GREAT feeling.

In this case I had to pull the range out to disconnect the power and also to remove the plate covering the electrical connectors. This was the only way to reconnect the elements terminals since the wires were too short to do it inside the oven. Undo the 2 screws holding the element in place from inside the oven to remove and install the new one before connecting the terminals from the back. Put back the rear cover and reconnect the power.

Robert did not do the repairs. I did! 70 year old housewife. I watched a Utube video and thought I could certainly handle that. Ordered my part from your site. It came in two days. Burnet was replaced in under 20 minutes by me! Anyone can do this. Super easy, parts just plug in.

I turned off the circuit breaker and unplugged the stove. I removed the back panel and marked the location of the wires on the new oven clock control. I detached the wires and removed the old card. I installed the new one and reconnected the wires. I plugged the stove and turned on the circuit breaker. All the lights came on and the oven worked fine. I reinstalled the back panel and it took me less than thirty minutes to complete the job.

recieved part the next day. looked different but I followed instructions and the part worked perfect.

I removed the control panel by removing 7 screws and replaced the light indicator and lens.

The part was exactly what we needed. However, we didn't find the video online to show how to replace the part until we were almost finished. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovwcJhfWHXQ) If we had found the video, it would have saved us a lot of time because we undid more of the door than we needed to. Also, the video tells you exactly what size tools to use. However, taking the door more apart allowed us to clean more of the inside of the door. So, watch the video before you start, and also, be prepared to spend time cleaning the insides of the door. Also, when we put the door back together, we accidentally turned the front glass panel of the door upside down and it wasn't noticeable until we had put the door back on the oven. So, we had to take it apart again to fix it. All said, we're very happy with the new part. Thank you PartSelect!

Would have helped it I knew the push on terminals of the bake element were visible and accessible to slide the terminals on from the back side of the stove in the beginning. There is not enough slack in the the terminal wires to connect them from the oven side, so you will have to open the back panel to retrieve a wire anyway. SO, CONNECT THE BAKE ELEMENT TO THE OVEN WALL FIRST ! Then, open the back panel of the stove and simply slide the terminals on the exposed slide terminals of the bake element.

I knew I had a bad control board. Using the repair videos, replacing this part was very easy to do. While I was at it, I replaced my oven temperature sensor. as well, and even though it wasn't bad, I replaced my oven heating element so that I could get some more mileage out of my 14-year-old range. The issue: after completing my repair actions, my oven element still would not heat. I double-checked my connections and I discovered I hadn't ensured one of the wires on the control board was properly seated. This was one of the wires that go to the heating element. After ensuring proper connection, everything worked perfectly!
