JBP79GS1 General Electric Range - Instructions

Pulled out the bottom drawer of the stove and discovered the plug. So the plug was pulled from the wall socket.

Before this I had sprayed the screws with WD-40 and let it sit for 2 days.

Screws came out easily. Pulled out the old element and removed screws. Screwed on new element on both sides. Put in place and put old screws back.

Plugged stove back in. Turned on stove. Element came right on.

super easy - unpluged stove - unscrewed old element w/nutdriver from back of stove. unwired element - discarded. wired new element (2 wires). secured new element to back of stove. pluged stove back in. works great. Ordered part on Sunday, recieved it on Tuesday- VERY NICE SERVICE

First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires, then i connect the new element and and replaced the screwes that held it in very simple and I must say Part select was very fast at getting me the correct part the first time , they have earned a spot in my Favorite list

Removed oven door by holding sides and pulling upward. It's easy to remove and replace. Removed shelves by sliding back and up, then out. Removed two hex nuts with socket wrench. They are on back wall of oven and secure element to that wall. I then pulled element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two leads.

I put new element in, reconnected two leads, replace two hex nuts and was done.

Turn off power to stove at circuit breaker before starting.

Made sure oven was turned off. I used nut driver to remove nuts holding old element to back of oven. gently pulled element out of wall, taking care not to yank because of wires attached to back of element. Made sure oven was off again and then used nut driver to carefully remove wire leads from receptors on element. removed old element from oven and got the new element. carefully used nut driver to attach wire leads to new element. When snugging the bolts to leads, used pliers to keep leads on the element from bending. carefully replaced wires and rear of element into the space behind oven, and used nut driver to attach the back of element to the back of oven. shut oven and turned on to make sure it worked. it did. I was very pleased with my experience with part select dot com, and will be buying another element soon to replace the one in my other oven! Thank you

When I told my husband I ordered the part and was going to fix it myself, he laughed and said I might not have ordered the right part for the problem and I should just buy a new stove.
The part was delivered the day before Christmas, just 3 days after I placed the order! I had read the stories of others fixing theirs and gave it a shot. It took me longer to find the tools then it did to replace the element!
I took the screws out , pulled the element toward me and disconnected the wires. Put it back the way I found it. Oven heated up in less then 5 minutes!

The part was delivered in 24 hours with regular
shipping and was simple to replace. Uncrewed
it, disconnected wires from the old one and connected
the new one. Cost a little more than $30 including shipping and the oven works great!

After supper, without biscuits, I removed the element by simply removing 4 screws with my nut driver. We went home and I immediately went online to your web site, inserted the old element part number, followed the ordering instructions, and in 3 dayd the new element had been delivered to our door. Several days later we were invited to mom's for dinner once again. I quickly installed the new element (perfect fit and works great) and enjoyed a great supper........with biscuits this time. Unscrewed the element from the oven,disconnected the two screws for the electrical and reverse the procedure to install new element. Took all of about 10 minutes.

Could not believe how fast the part shipped. 2 days and it was here. All it took was using a nut driver to remove 4 screws and then put the new one in.

My 17 year old son and I (his mom) replaced the oven element in less than 15 minutes!!! It was so easy. We first unplugged the stove since I didn't want to go and shut off the circuit breaker in the dark!! We then removed the two screws that hold the element in place and started to pulled out the element. It was actually corroding in my hands as I pulled it out. We disconnected the wires and then put in the new element by reconnecting the wires, pushing the connections back in and replacing the two screws that hold the element in. The oven heated right up!!! Four screws and two wires.

The hardest part was working in the oven.

Turn off power
Open Oven Door, remove racks
Remove two mounting screws with nut driver.
Slide the element out to expose the wire connections.
Remove the screws and pull the element out.
Place the new element in oven.
Clamp on to each of the terminals with vice grips to keep from bending the element and install the screws.
Slide the element back into place and put the two mounting screws back in.

Put the racks back in and turn on the power and test. You may get a little smoke off the new coil.

Like I said the hardest part is leaning into the oven to attach the screws, do not sit on the oven door.
