JKP38G4J6 General Electric Range - Instructions

Removed access screws from bake element cover, removed screws retaining wire connections on bake element, reverse procedure, and heat to burn off contaminants.

Took out the old (removed 2 screws holding the element to the back of the oven, disconnected the 2 screws attaching the electrical wires to the element). Decided to clean the oven with EasyOff. It took longer to spray this on, and then later wipe it up, than the repair itself. Reversed the procedure for the new element. A very simple repair - my wife is amazed!

Shopped online for a good price for the heating element. Thw element came very quickly, very good packaging. Removed and replaced the element.

Looked up mfg. and part #,looked at blow up of stove on parts select, identified element. The part came overnite. Shut down power, removed 2 screws with a nut driver, pulled element foreward to reveal 2 screws attaching wires. Replaced in reverse order, turned on power, back in service. 10 minutes tops.

It is simple.

Cut off the power. Remove racks. Remove burned out element and replace with new one.

Replace racks and turn on the power. Set the clock.

I've done this about 5 times and now keep a spare element.

Getting the part out was easy. Turned the power off (of course) first. The outside nuts were corroded, so had to use a pair of pliers to get them off. The inside connectors were easier to get off. I had a little trouble getting the connectors on the wires. The metal part on the heating element kept wanting to bend. I finally had someone hold that in place while I made the connections. The outside screws were easy to put on. The oven now works great. I think the element was failing over a period of time, and we just didn't notice. I can't remember the last time I actually saw the element get RED hot. Works great. Thanks for your quick service and reasonable prices. Will definitely use you again, when I need parts like this. unscrewed the broken one and replaced it with the new heating element. Worked perfectly! 20+ year old oven.

Unscrewed old element and screwed in the new one.

Removed two small bolt screws that held the bottom burner in place. Unscrew the two small screws that attach the oven wiring to the bottom burner. Put the bottom burner back in place and screw the two small bolt screws back in and its done.

Turned off electricity at fuse box. Unscrewed old element and removed. Put in new element, screwed it in. Turned on electricity. Voila.

Removed 4 screws and removed the old element and replaced in the reverse order.

Used nut driver to remove old element and screw driver to remove power leads. Reversed process to install new element. Took about 5 minutes.

Unscrewed face plate, unscrewed electric wires hooked to element. Cleaned out oven while I was in there...nice and clean now. Installed new element same way I took it out. Easy as 'pie'..which we'll be baking again now that the oven works.
