JRP03G3J2 General Electric Range - Instructions

Turned power off to oven. Unscrewed back plate exposing wires connected to heating element. It was difficult to unscrew the connections between them as it was hard to reach in because the oven door was in the way, but i finally succeeded. Unscrewed the bracket holding the burned out element and then attached the wires to the new element. Attached the bracket and I turned on the power. I then tested the oven and it worked.

Removed the two screws that held the element in place. Pulled the unit out a few inches to get at the bolted wires. The hard part is reaching in the oven using bifocal lenses and trying to block out the oven light. Getting past that obstacle, the rest went very well.

First I turned the power off to the oven. Then I tried to take out the nuts holding in the element. One nut came off easily, the other one was rusted on, I had to use wd40 to loosen it. The project was easy once I got that nut off. I pulled out the element, which is connected to two wires. I took those screws out, connected the new element to the wires, re-attached the screws, pushed it back in, attached the nuts that hold the element in the oven. Then I turned the power back on and the oven works like a charm. I installed it the day I got it. I was surprised how quickly it was shipped to my house. I am so glad I repaired the oven, a new one would have cost over $800, I bought the element for less than $30, including shipping! It also sets a good example for my daughter. It taught her that her mom can repair things too, it's not just something men can do!

several months ago the bake element in my oven started cracking. When it started sparking I knew I had to replace it or get a new oven. I ordered the part and it was easy. The old one fell apart as I removed it. I honestly don't know how it was still heating. Anyway, all I did was turn off the electric to the oven, then I had to remove to screws that attached it to the wall of the oven. That was the hardest part because I couldn't see them well so I had to put a lantern in the oven. Then I had to pull it out enough to remove the screws from within. Then I just reversed the process to install and everything worked great! Saved me a lot on calling a repair man.

Unscrewed the broken element from the back of the inside of the oven, then unscrewed the connected wires from the element and did the reverse with the new element. Viola.

Before touching anything, however, I made sure the oven was in the off position and also went to the house circuit breaker box and flipped OFF the appropriate circuit breaker(s). There were two - one for the element and another for the rest of the controls.

When everything was in place, I turned the power back on and turned on the oven and was cooking again. We had Prime Rib for Easter.

Turned breaker off to oven. Removed 2 screws from burned out element in back of oven and pulled it out. Installed new element and tightened the two screws. Very easy.

My oven is 31 years old so was suprised I could still get parts.

I (a woman) unplugged the stove, took out the screws, and unhooked the baking element. I then replaced the old screws with the newer ones, and made sure everything was nice and tight. I was a little nervous at first but everything turned out okay. I plugged the stove back up & the baking element was a bright orange and it works better than ever. The whole process took about 15-20 minutes.

I have to admit that I tried to remove the element myself but I did not have the right tool for the last two screws. If I did it would have been very easy. I ordered the part and had someone else put it in so I cheated.

On thanksgiving day, as we were pre-heating the oven, electric sizzle, sparks and a little flame comes from our 24 year old oven. We were able to get dinner on the table and that evening I went looking for what I thought was going to be a difficult to find part. But I found the part on partselect. I ordered that evening and got it on saturday. Installation was a snap. The most difficult part was the nuts holding the wires were stuck on from time and heat and I worried about the wire from the small plate to the coil might break. A little wd-40 and a few minutes and they popped right off and right back on. Works great now.

Took the old one out and replaced with the new one. It was just awkward to get at.

New element arrived in a couple of days! We turned off breaker to oven, removed the old one which only involved two screws. Then we had to connect new one and re-attach metal square, only tricky part was getting the metal square positioned correctly but that was really not hard, just made sure insulation was covered and plate went back in same position. If we had called a eepair company it would have taken a week or more and probably been expensive!

I read your website repair testimonials by previous customers and used that advise to do the job. I liked the suggestion to use something to attach to the unattached wires so they don't slip back into the unit. I used two clothespins. I had one stubborn electrical connection to disconnect so it took a little longer -about 30 minutes. But it was a simple job to do and my oven works fine again. The item was delivered timely from the order date and packaged well. Thank-you!

husband said he would call repairman. I found you and ordered part. By the time my husband got around to calling the repairman, I was finished.
Only trouble was getting my hands to work in the small space. The cover plate was not as big as the former unit so I had to muscle it on. BUT, it was a very easy process and we saved tons of money on a repairman and a new oven/micro. THANKS.
