Had to drill 2 new holes 1/4 lower in oven so new coil would bolt up evenly besides that it went easily.

took me longer to find my 1/4 inch nut runner and drill than to change out the element.........simpliest replacement i've ever encountered and i'm 64 years old. less than 2 minutes......

Very easy repair. First and very important step...shut off power to the oven! Then removed two small screws holding element to back of oven, gently pulled it and the wires connected to it toward me, disconnected the wires, connected the new element and reversed the process. However what I really appreciated about this was how easy it was to find the part on PartSelect.com. It was difficult to read the model number stamped on the plate at the front of the oven, and I got 1 letter and 1 digit wrong. But when I did the search, instead of just telling me "not found," it offered a list of model numbers that were close to what I'd entered, and the first one was correct. Very helpful! The online store is very well set up and easy to navigate.

Even though my exact model was not matched by Parts Select the bake element shown in a picture for a different model was correct. The length the bake element protruded through the wall of the oven was the same as the old one. The element arrived within two days, packaged so it would not be damaged en transit.

The problem was that there was heat in the oven but only a little. This threw me off at first but my wife tells me that the broiler element is used as the oven heats up. So bottom line is, the main element was burned out and once I replaced it, everything worked fine.

Working on 33 year old Kenmore stove (Harvest Gold color bought in 1977). Have replaced the element every 12 to 14 years, last in 1997. 3-5 FedEx delivery took only 1 day. I verified Selector dial and Temperature dial both set to off. I took out the 2 oven shelves and took off the oven door for easier access to back of oven. Open oven door slightly to 1st catch, slightly lift and pull door away from the oven to clear the 2 side hinges from the openings. I used 1/4 inch socket with ratchet to remove 1 screw on each side holding element to back wall of oven. Gently pulled element out and up slightly so connectors come through openings in back wall. 1 connector came out from wall 4 inches, the other just barely. I used needle nose pliers to pull connector off element with 4 inches of wire. The connector did not come off easily, it took some wiggling of the connector (not too hard because it is brittle). I pulled connector off element barely out from the wall and held the connector in the pliers (did not let go). Put old element on kitchen floor and put new element on oven floor. Attached connector wire to end of element so it didn't slip through back wall. Attached connector wire to other end of element. Lifted element slightly to push through back wall openings. Used 1/4 inch socket to re-attached both screws. I put oven door back on (reverse of taking off). I set Selector to Bake and Temperature to 300. I watched element heat up (nice solid color along entire length) and reach 300 temperature and cycle off. I opened oven door to force the thermostat to kick in the cycle again. I closed oven door to watch the element again. When the heating cycle finished, I turned the Selector & Temperature to off. When oven cooled off, I put the shelves in again.

I've been to many appliance repair stores looking for White-Westinghouse Stove Parts and have been told their 'unavailable'! Then I checked PartsSelect.com- and they were listed as 'available'. The 6" & 8" Drip Bowls shipped quick and arrived packed well. The new Drip Bowls aren't as heavily made as the originals- but they are exact replacements and very easy to replace. The wife is happy and with many replacement parts & how-to-videos for repair we plan on keeping this stove for another 20 years!

They don't make appliances this easy to repair anymore. just as others say: screw out, unhook element ..hook new one to wires, screws back in.. you're DONE.. Thanks for great service and very quick delivery

Locating part on web site, ordering, receiving next day & installing was very very easy. Information provided on PART SELECT web site and that provided with part made this a very easy and cost effective repair. With service provided by PART SELECT there is no reason to pay for an expensive service call in addition to what a repair company would charge for the part.

Removed sheet metal plate from back of oven. Disconnected two lead from existing bake element. Removed existing bake element, replaced with new one. Connected wires, replaced sheet metal.

The trick with this old oven is to access the wires from the back.

Just removed nuts. Pulled out the element from the unit. Disconnected each end. Reconnected new element. Pushed piece back into insulated unit. Attached nuts. Done.

I figured that it could not be a hard repair, that these things "die" in the ordinary lifetime of an oven, so that they would not make it too hard to get to. I pulled out the oven and disconnected it; opened three screws on the back, took off the back plate, and you could easily see the two connectors to the element. They came off with a gentle tug with pliers. Then you open the oven, and remove one screw on each side where the element is connected to the back wall of the oven. A magnetic hex socket end for the screwdriver makes it easier. Remove the old element gently through the glass wool insullation, and insert the new one with the element "legs" down. Verify the placement of the element connections in the back, and then replace the screw that hold the tab on the base of each element side to the back wall of the oven. Then, carefully reconnect the connector sleeve onto each end of the element in the back of the oven snuggly. Close the back panel with the three (the forth on the top was not tight and didn't need openening or closing)screws to the sides and bottom of the panel. Replace oven and reconnect to power, and test the element. It all took less than half an hour.

We tested all of the other "functions" of the oven to make sure that everything else worked fine, and we realized that the problem really had to be the element.

We ordered it and it came within 72 hours! We simply unscrewed the faulty element, made sure that the wires were handled carefully (circuit turned off!), and inserted the new element and rewired and screwed back into place the screws that were removed.

Simple as pie! You can do this! You don't need a service call for this one guys! Get BRAVE!!

I just followed the instructions that I found online.

Removed the elments2 screws, unhooked the two wires, removed the rear cover from back. I then installed the new element, covered the termanals with electric tape replaced the rear cover screwed down the new element, tested.
