I removed the mixer from the stand and replaced the bowl lift arm by removing a cotter pin and reconnected the arm to the crank inserting the pin roll and tapping it into place with a small hammer. It took all of five minutes to complete.

Simply placed it in the slot and pounded until firmly in with a soft mallet. Thanks to your site I was able to find the piece easily and very inexpensively. Thank you so much. I would die if I couldn't fix this machine.

I did not do the repair myself, however, I contacted a suggested service company which in turn was a company I had used before when I had problems with my JenAir microwave. it was a kitchen aid dough mixer, had to take the top portion off and replace the assembly with a new one that holds the teflon gear. You can purchace the gear only and it becomes less expensive, but at the time I didn't take the chance cause the greese was there and didn't want to take a chance. Its a simple repair by removing some cotter pins and phillips head screws.

Task went EZ,I have two with bad transmission and with fixing them I found out the grease in case housing was bad like wax. So I'm going to check out my third mixer and replace old grease in that one. your part scrimatics are great thanks.

I followed the video that was with the worm gear pausing at each step until I completed each step. The only different I did was to replace the grease in the gears and housing of my mixer. I figured with the gear busted, it was going to leave broken teeth in the grease. As I removed the grease I did find a couple of worm gear teeth. Thanks, Parts Select for the parts and video. After I dropped a part of the shield into my mixer the motor screamed and I unplugged the mixer. I found out I had a broken worm gear. I then order the part and per the helpful video I did the repair and I also changed the brushes my mixer is up and running waiting for the holiday baking season thanks to Part select.com Very easy Instructions to follow I am very happy with the results. I how the video for replacing the worm gear on your website. It help me a lot. I followed step by step instruction display on video. It was great help.

Per a video on this site, I removed the stand part, then removed the rear electrical cover and aluminum band which wraps around the mixer. Next, remove the drip ring and planetary gear (use a punch). Then remove the 4 screws securing the bottom housing and the 5 screws around the planetary gear housing. You should be able to pull the upper and bottom housings apart now. This exposes the control lever. Just unscrew it and replace it. Re-install all parts in reverse order.

I removed the screws on the back and base of the mixer. Took off the retaining ring and screws holding the mixer beater bar. Tapped out the retaining pin using an allen wrench and hammer. Carefully as not to scratch the unit. Removed the old grease, the screws holding in the worn worm gear. Replaced the gear, re-greased and reassembled the unit. To line up the retaining pin I used a very small allen wrench to get through the hole as it needed to set down all the way. Then when I wiggled it down it lined up the hole for the retaining pin. I tapped the pin back in place with the hammer and a larger allen wrench. Replaced the screws, lightly greased the gears. I had taken the "brushes" out earlier and learned that they go in a certain way. I also learned that the screw at the back by the wires, by adjusting it tighter or looser controls the speed lever. If your mixer won't work on low speed the screw has to be adjusted!

Took the mixer down to the gear box. Found the plastic drive gear had a few stripped teeth. Did a search on the internet for the mixer gear. Found a couple of suppliers. Ordered the needed gear, pin and a bearing block just in case it was worn. The bearing block did not need to be replaced. Cleaned the broken off teeth from the gear grease and put the mixer back together. All worked fine when I plugged it in.

I found a video on how to repair mixer that would not turn. Watched video several times and replaced worn worm gear. Getting the old worm gear was the most difficult part of the job. I had to go purchase a pin punch ($5.50) with the correct tool is was easy.

My husband looked at youtube to figure out what the issue was. He saw a video that identified that the likely problem was the worm gear. My husband took the kitchenaid applicance apart, as he saw in the video. We ordered the part, it took less than a week to arrive. He rewatched the video that demonstrated how to put the kitchenaid mixer back together. It's a bit messy due to all the packing grease, but a pair of nitrile gloves, paper towels, and an old rag help. We put a garbage bag over the appliance after it was taken apart to protect it from any dust and my curious cat. We let the kitchenaid cycle for about a minute to make sure the gear was greased. I haven't used it to make bread yet, but I'll do that soon. Thanks for supplying the part that saved us at least one hundred dollars and TRY to get a person who will repair small appliances.
