Mixer still ran, but seemed to be getting very loose as if gears or a shaft were wearing out.
I followed the video provided online. The model shown was not exactly the same as mine, but very close. The step-wise progression demonstrated on the video helped a lot. I had to double check the video a couple of times which added to the work time....I could probably do it again without the video in under 1 hour. As shown in the video, I laid out an old towel across two pieces of 2x4 which helped keep the mixer head in a position that was easy to work on and also prevented scratches.

Replacement of digital window in oven unit
I did not do the repair myself, however, I contacted a suggested service company which in turn was a company I had used before when I had problems with my JenAir microwave. Excellent service, prompt and very professional. Thank you JenAir for your assistance in providing promptly the parts needed to complete this job.

Worn spring would not allow atthing mixer attacments
Repair was easy. Remove the seal ring with a flat blade screwdriver and drive out retaining pin. Pry out lower unit using two screwdrivers, one on each side. Once apart, use spring clip pliers to remove snap ring. Pull out shaft and replace. Clean and lubricate as you reassemble in reverse. Google the model number to get detailed instructions.

Plastic knob on speed control lever was lost
The knob was attached to the new lever. I began to disassemble the mixer case so that I could replace the lever. However, it soon became apparent that this would be a major project involving many components and potential problems in getting the unit back together. Since all I wanted was to replace the knob, I simply knocked it off the new lever and forced it onto the old one. It is hard for me to understand why Kitchenaid would not make just the knob available.

No rotation
I was very happy with the customer services department and the support I received in identifying the part I needed for the repair. I received an email confirming my order with all details. I do wish you had a more cost effective shipping alternative, like Priority mail.
The repair went well and the mixer is back in business, for making those Chocolate Chip Cookie and brownies if you know what I mean.

Thank you
Ron Ashby

worn teflon worm gear
it was a kitchen aid dough mixer, had to take the top portion off and replace the assembly with a new one that holds the teflon gear. You can purchace the gear only and it becomes less expensive, but at the time I didn't take the chance cause the greese was there and didn't want to take a chance. Its a simple repair by removing some cotter pins and phillips head screws.

Motor ran rough and weak with squeaking sounds
Initially I thought this was due to worn motor brushes. I replaced the brushes but it did not fix the problem. Stator tested OK with an ohmmeter so I figured it was the armature part #PS3651001. Ordered that next and that fixed the problem. Spent 25 dollars which beats buying a new one. Next time I'm buying a used one from the 60s or 70s when they made them better! One tip - I had a hard time removing the pin that you need to remove the helical gear. Heating it with a heat gun helped a lot, also helped with replacing it after.
