SCA1000HB General Electric Microwave - Instructions

Unplug the microwave. Remove front grill and cover by removing 2 screws on top of microwave. You have to look down from the top. I could not locate the screws by feel. Once the two screws are out, remove the grill by sliding slightly to the left to lift out. Open the oven door to facilitate removal. Then remove the steel light cover (1 Phillips screw in the center of the unit) and unclip the bulb holder on the right. Do not touch the halogen bulb when you replace. Reseat the bulb holder and test by plugging in the unit with the door open. Unplug and replace the light cover and grill.

I pulled out the unit and found 2 interlock switches that are depressed when the door closes. After cycling the door open/closed I found that one of the switches occasionally would stay depressed. The repair was easy (after I took off the panels so I could get to the switch) I simply removed 2 screws that attached the interlock switch assemblies to the main unit. Then I popped out the defective switch and popped in the new one. This did indeed fix my problem.

Removed. Inside frame with putty knife replace new latch attach spring and line up notch of latch in slots. That was the most difficult part replace inside frame. Done!

Our GE Profile Advantium 120 Series Over-the-Range Microwave stopped working. We called GE Service. The first available appointment was two weeks after our call. The technician charged $99, gave us a form stating that the Magnetron and Diode Cable as defective and quoting an additional price of $362 to furnish and install these parts. He said that it would be another two weeks before he could do the work. Instead I ordered the parts from you and had them within two days. The parts you furnished were identical to the original parts in our unit. They arrived within two days. I installed the parts without removing the microwave from the wall. The most difficult part was inserting the magnetron mounting screws into openings in the rather tight space available. I was able to do this by using plastic pacaging tape to hold the screws onto the end of a short Phillip screw, Prior to iserting each screw I pushed it through the sticky side of a piece of packaging tape. I then folded the sticky surface over the shank of the screw. Once a screw was seated, but before it was fully tightened, I used needle nose pliers to pull off the tape. The unit now functions perfectly.

My son said order it. It came a day later. Very cool. He took the door off and up to his room. No idea what tools except most likely a screwdriver. I asked him how did it go. He said it's good. Nice...

Snap the plastic trim piece from the inside of the door off.took broken latch out and put the new one in.PS your part came really fast.Thanks

Removed the door, removed the old choke cover (breaking all the stap catches), removed the slide door latch assembly from the spring (the most difficult task) then reassembly of the latch to spring, sliding into the grooves along the inside of the door, the installing the new choke cover (very easy with the new one) taking care not the break any of the staps. Easy enough! Another difficult task was to re-install the door to the frame. It appears that the lower "hinge" is slightly bent down to allow easy install but the door now makes a slight sweeking sound when opening and closing.

I held the door open while the repair man took the black facing off and replaced the latch and reinstalled the facing I was worn out

Replaced the cord, attached it to the light fixture, and then replaced the cover for the bottom of the appliance

Buying the bulb and doing the replacement my self was the best thing I had done. The same problem happened last year and I had the American Home shield insurance at that time so I called the company and they took three weeks between ordering and replacing the light, they showed me the final bill and it was $240.00....!!! This time I bought the light through partselect, got it within 48 hours and did he replacement myself within 15 min, I followed the instructions on the video and had to do an extra step ( due to the model I have) but I was able to replace the bulb and yooohooo it was working when I reconnect the power... I am a person who never tried to fix any electrical appliance before, but after this experience I will always try to do it myself... Believe me if I can do it and felt it was easy you can do it.... First unplugged the microwave, took top grill off, took control panel off, took wires off and used color coded tape to make sure they went back in right places, took fuse out and replaced it and put every thing back and it all worked fine and to top it off my wife did it all. So it was pretty easy.

Found a service manual on-line, and read some blogs that indicted the Thermal Cut Out devices that are basically thermal fuses. I removed the device from over the range, which turned out to be not 100% necessary, but made the repair much easier. Found that the Cavity TCO was certainly burnt, and tested bad with an Ohmmeter. The Hood TCO tested open, so I assumed that device was bad, which turned out not to be true. The TCO's are one shot, so I found PartSelect in a search engine, and entered my product model number. The parts were all clearly identified, so ordering was easy. Replaced the parts, bench tested the repair and re-installed the device. Way cheaper than a service call and I also replaced the long burnt out vanity light. This bulb burnt out in less than a year, but a serviceman had told me that the entire device had to be dis-assembled to replace the part, which is not true. This part can be replaced without removing the oven from the over-the-range mount, as can the three TCO's in the oven.
