JE2160B General Electric Microwave - Instructions

The key to this repair is attaching the spring once the rest of the assembly is attached. I primarily used a wratcheting screw drive to remove the assembly but used a socket attachment with the screw bit to finish it off.

First, I removed the spring entirely. In order to attach the spring, I expanded the spring by sliding quarters into each of the coils (I had a quarter in every coil in order to get the ends as close as possible). I then first attached the spring to the post on the right side. I would have preferred to attach it to the closure assembly arm as the angle to attach was much simpler with the spring detached however there wasnt enough room to work around the post.

I then adjusted the closure assembly arm to be aligned with the spring and with a little elbow grease, stretched the string the remaining 1/2" or so and connected it to the arm. Once connected, I opened the fridge door and was easily able to remove the quarters.

This was an under counter microwave located above the range. There is a cover on the bottom of the unit that contains screens for the fan. This cover is removed by taking out 3 screws located near the front of the unit. Be sure to support the cover when removing the last screw. There is a plug-in wire going to the turn table motor. Unplug it so you can lay the cover on the range top. The motor is removed by taking out two screws and pulling down. It should not take much force as it slides into a plastic drive located under the turn table inside the microwave. There should be specifications on the old motor that match the new motor. Push the new motor up into the plastic drive unit, matching the "D" shaft of the motor into the plastic drive. Replace two motor screw in correct holes so that the plastic drive is centered in the hole. Plug the motor back in and replace the cover.

We removed the glass circular plate of the microwave. We replaced the original roller guide with the new part. Then we placed the glass plate back in its place. Quick and simple.

On the bottom of Microwave I cut the 6 clips holding the cover in place with side cutters. Removed the one screw holding motor in place. Un plugged it. Plugged in new motor, replaced screw. Filed off sharp points of clips. Slid cover tabs into slots, put screw in cover. Replaced parts inside oven, turned it on, it worked.
I did this twice. The first time the plug fell inside the housing and I had to turn the microwave over to fish it out. So when I received new part I left it plugged in. I should make it clear I am talking about the plug to the motor not the one to the microwave. Of course I unplugged that before I even moved the microwave. Thanks to another customer and his repair story because I was dreading the chore of dismantling the entire microwave to get to the turn table motor. He made it so easy. removed 3 screws from back took cover off pulled out socket pulled off terminal replaced bulb then reverse order back together. all while unplugged.

Went on line and saw the Video - very simple to follow - very easy to remove and install the new switch -- went like a breeze!

Removed old roller assembly and installed new roller assembly.

My brand new never used microwave had the plexiglass all fogged up by no good cleaners using harsh abbrasives. The repair was quite simple but took a few minutes to figure out. You open the door and look at the end of the door. You can see the plexiglass screen edge. Slide a knife under the edge and work it up and down releasing the two face tape that holds it in place. Then using the knife to gently hold the plexiglass off of the tape simply slide it out the end. Put some two face tape on the new plexiglass in the same location, slide it in (bowing out the plexiglass while you slide the last little bit where the tape is) and once all the way in, press down to engage the tape. That is it.

I placed the new hot plate in the old microwave. It worked perfectly, and no tools needed

Take the four saftey torx screws off the back of microwave that hold the side panels on. There are no screws in the front. Just pick up the side panels a little and slide towards the back of microwave and it will come off. The magnetron is visible behind control panel. Unplug the magetron, take a 3/8 nut driver , remove the one bolt that holds it on , remove and replace with the new one. Plug the wire (it will only go one way) back up and replace cover.

Went well, very easy to change once the microwave was out of the wall. Sounds better than when it was new.

I determined that one of the 4 micro switches that interface with the door was faulty. Ordered that part and replaced it. Had to remove the cover and front control panel (without removing any connections. Two philips screws hold the limit switch assembly to the bracket. After removing those screws, twist the whole switch assembly clockwise around the mounting frame and now you can remove the defective micro switch and replace it with a new one. This works for any of the 4 switches.

Was sent the wrong part but wanted a pizza so I installed it anyway and now the turntable turns a 6 rpm instead of 3 rpm. I figured that the part I ordered was no longer available and that was the best you could do for a replacement part. Replacement was easy- removed panel from bottom of microwave and filed the sharp edges from the side cutters, remove the one motor screw and motor. swapped the plug over and installed the new part. Replaced bottom panel, plugged in and cooked a pizza.

First remove tamper proof screws with vise - grips. Unplug capacitor ground out one side to discharge. Trouble shooting guide in a envelope in microwave, read it and did what it said. If 20 amp fuse is blown ( which it was ) replace primary and secondary switch and monitor switch. Switch assemble removes as a unit. Wires where hard to remove, you have to push on a release located on one side and pull to remove. Works great , only one switch was bad, but I did what the guide said. Draw a picture of wiring with color code so you do not mix up.
