JVM230BLC01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

First, I have to say I was amazed at how quickly we received the replacement part--it cam the next day and I didn't pay for extra shipping. Of course, this was a quick replacement part, since I only had to remove the two screws holding the old broken handle and install the new one. My husband couldn't believe it was already done the next day--we figured we wouldn't be able to open it for at least a week. Thanks! Also, it was easy to find the part on the website.

The cost for the replacement door handle is outrageous coupled with the overnight shipment I could have bought a band new microwave.

In any further repairs are required I'll deal directly with GE.

The repair took only a few ;minutes. Unfortunately it was the second handle I have replaced in the three years we have owned the house. It's an obvious design or materials problem and I see no way of lessening the force needed to open the door. Otherwise the microwave works very well.

I unscrewed the one screw holding the handle but had to use a plier on the other screw because the screw was stuck in a small piece of plastic that had broken off the handle so I held the plastic piece in place with the plier and turned the screw with the screwdriver and then it came right out
I then just screwed the two old screws right back in to the new handle and it was done!

The picture on your site was very helpful. We couldn't find our manual and were not sure of a part number.
We got it in a few days and removed the screws from the old handle and put the new one on in 10 minutes or less.
Since it is a built in microwave you saved us the expense of purchasing a new one and the time involved to put it in.Thank you

Super easy repair, getting the part was just as easy. I did a simple search with the model number and was able to verify that the part I was ordering was the correct one by using the many pictures and diagrams available.

I was very concerned that I would have to buy a new microwave because the door handle broke. It literally took 2 minutes to find on google, shipped overnight and fixed in 5 minutes for under $50! Woo hoo!!!!

Took off what was left of the handle. Put in the new handle. Took less than 2 minutes. Was very surprised when I got the part way sooner than was told. I will definetly buy from you again. You have been added to my "favorites" on my pc.

With many thanks to those who posted their experience and advice replacing the bulb, I was able to remove 5 of the 6 screws holding the underside panel and remove the socket which contained the broken off base of the bulb and extract it with needle-nose pliers. I had broken off the glass portion of the bulb trying to unscrew it due to the awkward contortion of my wrist-hand-fingers trying to grip the bulb inside the tight recess the bulb is mounted in. After concluding that I needed more information, I did a web search for 'Hotpoint RVM1435' and found helpful advice at partselect.com telling me to drop the bottom panel. Good call! Thanks everyone!

Since the job required replacing both the bulbs and sockets the unit was dropped from the wall. Used a towel and plywood to protect the range under the unit. Then these steps: Unplugged the power cable and placed a support board under the unit while removing three bolts from overhead cabinet. Next, removed support board and with a helper rotated the unit down and lifted it out of the rear wall mounting panel. Then turned the unit upside down, removed the bottom plate and unplugged the feed wires and two wires to each of the sockets. Next the single screws holding the sockets were removed and the sockets extracted from the mounting shells and new units were installed. When remounting the unit it was necessary to start all three bolts from the upper cabinet just a few turns and then tighten the center bolt completely first.

My son=law did repair because I am elderly and it was necesary to remove the bottom plate of the microwave which I was unable to do. The microwave was installed in 1987 and I believe this was the first time to replace the bulbs. When my son removed them the bulb was diintergrated. That's how old they were. Once he was able to remove the underneath plate the repair was easy except for removing the old bulbs. I think that I could have done it myself but he was available and I am sure it was done much better. All in all the parts)bulbs) were correct and everything is workiin fine. This is a good place to order replacement parts. In fact I am going to order a new charcoal filter. He took the label off the old one and I am ordering the replacement. After all 1987 may have been a good year, but time for a new one. Mary

removed the lens cover with one screw and replaced bulb

Removed 2 screws, lifted handle off the door, fitted the new handle in place and replaced the screws (don't lose the screws...none are provided with the new handle).
